New members welcomed into R.V. Bennett Honors Program By Duane Bonifer Lindsey Wilson University communication instructor Kaylie Butler '21 has experienced the benefits of the university's R.V. Bennett Honors Program as both a student and as a faculty member. On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Butler was among those to welcome nine new members into the Bennett Honors Program at an afternoon tea at the Emily Hundley President's Home. Hosted by Lindsey Wilson President William T. Luckey Jr. and First Lady Elise Luckey, the tea has been a Bennett Honors Program tradition, with both social and symbolic meanings, for nearly a decade. "We are a family," Lindsey Wilson history professor Elizabeth Tapscott, who is director of the program, told the new members. "And you know that you are not alone as you embark on this journey of knowledge." Soccer: LWU women host undefeated Grace College on Friday The Lindsy Wilson women's soccer team returns home for a match up against (RV) Grace College (IN) at 5pmCT on Friday, September 12, 2025, on Ray Wells Field at Walter Reuling S. Stadium, 151 Holloway Drive, Columbia, KY. The Blue Raiders (1-3) are looking to regain momentum after suffering back-to-back one-goal losses against No. 5 William Carey and No. 15 Oklahoma Wesleyan. Offensively, Lindsey Wilson is led by Ashiat Naluggwa, who ranks 12th in the Mid-South Conference with five points - two goals and one assist - through six matches. Grace (6-0) enters Friday's contest on a dominant run, most recently earning a top-25 win over St. Ambrose (Iowa). Volleyball: ACHS 15-3 heading in to State Tournament play By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer The Adair County Indians Volleyball team currently sits at 15-3 coming off a 1-3 loss to Central Hardin on the road. The team won the Section 4 last week over Taylor County in the finals after beating Marion County. The team will next face the Section 7 champions Corbin Lady Redhounds (14-5) who won their sectional over Whitley County in the finals. This year marks the first time in Adair County Volleyball program history that the team will play in the 2A State Championship. The Lady Indians take the court to face Corbin at 1:30pmCT on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Brescia College, 717 Frederica St, Owensboro, KY. Lindsey students plant flags to remember victims of 9/11 By Duane Bonifer Cody Shepherd '27 was born more than three years after 2,977 people died in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Shepherd joined nearly a dozen of his Lindsey Wilson University classmates on September 10 to make sure that no one on campus forgets that tragedy on September 11, 2025. The LWU students -- all of whom were born after 2001 -- spent about an hour Wednesday evening planting nearly 2,000 American flags around the center of the Lindsey Wilson A.P. White Campus in memory of those killed in the four terrorist attacks carried out by al-Qaida on the morning of September 11, 2001. The project, which was started on the one-year anniversary of the attacks by the 2002-03 Lindsey Wilson student government leaders, has been renewed annually for nearly a quarter-century.
