Bobby Bowe featured in CU Alumni Spotlight

Bobby Bowe of the Flatwoods community in Adair County was selected for the Alumni Spotlight feature in the recent issue of the Campbellsville University Magazine.

By Brandon Roberts,
Campbellsville University staff writer

In 2008, two-time Campbellsville University Alumni, Bobby Bowe received the call from God to preach the Gospel to all who would hear him, and he has been fulfilling that role ever since.

"I tried to avoid it at first," said Bowe. "I knew what it was, and I decided to accept the call."

Out of his successful career, Bowe described his choice to become a pastor as "the best move I ever made."

CU magazine shines Alumni Spotlight on Bobby Bowe

2025-09-02 - Photo from Gerard Flanagan, CU Communications.

The Rev. Bobby Bowe is featured in the recent Campbellsvillian magazine's Alumni Spotlight. He holds two degrees from Campbellsville University.

He and his nine brothers and sisters grew up in Columbia before schools were integrated - when 'racism was rampant, restaurants, movie theaters, and a lot of establishments would not allow them to go in.' He said his close-knit and loving family focused through the hard times on "If there's a will, there's a way."

Small businesses creating jobs can apply for KY tax credits

Frankfort, KY - On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, Gov. Andy Beshear encouraged Kentucky's small businesses that are creating jobs and investing in our communities to apply for a tax credit of up to $25,000 through the Kentucky Small Business Tax Credit (KSBTC).

"Kentucky's economy is thriving, and our small businesses are a big reason why," Gov. Beshear said. "This program helps support our small businesses, just as they've supported our local communities and our people through strong investments and good-paying jobs. I'm happy to see business owners and entrepreneurs using this program to ensure continued success, because their impact across Kentucky will last for many generations to come."

To learn more about this program, and others offered by KY Innovation - and to access the current version of the KSBTC application - visit kytaxcredit.org, contact the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development at 800-626-2930, or email info@kyinnovation.com.

Weekly Chapel Service offers an opportunity to recharge

By Duane Bonifer

Lindsey Wilson University Chaplain the Rev. Tyler Brumfield knows that the energy and enthusiasm that permeate college students during the first week of classes often dissipate a week or two later.

That's why Brumfield is holding the university's first weekly chapel service of the 2025-26 school year during the first week of September.

The first chapel service of the school year -- which will include a message from Brumfield -- will be at 10:45amCT on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, in the historic John B. Begley Chapel, nine calendar days after the first day of classes on August 25. The services are open to the public.

"You often notice a shift in the mood of college students around week four or five," said Brumfield. "It seems that people don't quite have the energy they had at the beginning of the school year. So we hope that starting our weekly chapel service in early September will give people, especially our students, an opportunity to check in."

Letter: Hospital Tax

Bryan New writes:
I second the motion to return any surplus amount back to the taxpayer. I feel saddling the citizens of Adair with the tax was an injustice in the first place, and possibly unconstitutional, but no one challenged it.
