Golda Mae Hinkle, 84, Russell County, KY Golda Mae Hinkle, of Russell Springs, passed away at her home Tuesday, August 26, 2025. She was 84 years of age. Born July 21, 1941, in Russell Springs, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Ada West Tucker. Golda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a member of Pine Grove Separate Baptist Church. Golda loved her family and friends dearly and will be missed by all who knew her. Soccer: LWU women shut out Union The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team secured their first win against Union Commonwealth (KY) 5-0 at Ray Wells Field at Walter S. Reuling Stadium on Tuesday evening, August 26, 2025. Lindsey Wilson (1-1) outshot the Bulldogs (0-2) 20-3 with a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal. LWU Theatre Department announces Fall Season By Duane Bonifer Two classics of the stage and a holiday treat make up this fall's Lindsey Wilson University Theatre Department's productions. Lindsey Wilson will present the light-hearted Anne of Green Gables: The Musical, the suspenseful Wait Until Dark and A Holiday Cabaret. All three productions will be presented in the university's V.P. Henry Auditorium. "This fall will offer theatre audiences a diverse selection of productions -- something that will help them relax, something that will keep them on the edge of their seats, and something that will help them get into the Christmas spirit," said Lindsey Wilson theatre professor Robert Brock. Adair Co. Schools issues statement on Brangers resignation In a press release this morning, Adair County Schools issued official comment on the resignation of Jordan Brangers, who is leaving the program after a short tenure as ACHS Indians Head Basketball Coach. "We are grateful for Coach Brangers' commitment to our student-athletes and the work he has done with our program thus far," said Superintendent Jason Faulkner. "We wish him the very best as he continues to pursue opportunities to impact players on a broader level." The process to identify new coach for the boys basketball program has already begun, with officials promising to share information with the community as it becomes available. "Adair County Schools extends its appreciation to Coach Brangers for his contributions and service to our students and program." KSP: Adair man charged with child sexual exploitation offenses From Lt. Mitchel Hazelett On August 26, 2025, at approximately 11:40amCT, the Kentucky State Police (KSP) Electronic Crime Branch arrested am Adair County man on charges related to child sexual abuse material. He was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect sharing images of child sexual exploitation online. The investigation resulted in a search warrant at a residence in Columbia, KY on August 26, 2025. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP's forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing. Lucretia Begley Retrospective on display through Oct 10 By Duane Bonifer The first art exhibit of the Lindsey Wilson University era honors one of the school's art pioneers. Works by Lucretia Chilton Begley of Columbia are on display through Oct. 10 in the gallery that bears her name, the Lucretia C. Begley Art Gallery. Also showing in the gallery are a half-dozen pieces by Lindsey Wilson alumnus Tristan Roy '23 of Russell Springs, Kentucky, who graduated with a degree in art and history. "Lucretia Begley Retrospective: A Delicate Expression of the Seasons" is a tribute to Begley's diverse art career, which spans more than 50 years. The show features eight of her paintings and five ceramic pieces. The paintings celebrate the landscape and color of Southcentral Kentucky, and the ceramic pieces reflect Begley's observations and impressions of the everyday world. "There is so much joy to see in her work -- in her paintings, in her ceramic pieces," said Lindsey Wilson Performing Arts Director Kristyne Gilbert.
