Living By Faith Fish Fry and Shrimp Boil is May 18

Living By Faith Church will hold a Fish Fry and Shrimp Boil from 4pmCT to 7pmCT on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 3041 Edmonton Rd., Columbia, KY.

Get a Fish Meal with coleslaw, hush puppies & fries, or Country Low Boil with fresh shrimp, corn, potatoes & sausage. The cost will be donations.

You can order in person or call in orders to 270-250-1028 & 270-634-1739, and you can eat on location or get to go boxes. We will take call in orders as long as we can.

Columbia Christian Church VBS starts July 7

The Columbia Christian Church will be having Vacation Bible School, July 7-12, 2024, from 6pmCT to 8:30pmCT nightly. The Theme this year is SCUBA! Food served nightly and transportation is available.

Betty Claire Jennings, 82, Columbia, KY native (1942-2024)

Betty Claire Jennings of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 4, 2024. She was 82 years old.

Betty was born and raised in Columbia, Kentucky by Oren and Mabel Bryant, who are now all reunited in what must be the most beautiful heavenly reunion. She raised three children, Chris (Tami) Reams, Billy Reams and Heather (David) Jacobi in a happy and loving home to be independent and thoughtful adults. She is also survived by her cherished siblings, Larry (Donna) Bryant of Columbia, Kentucky and sister, Carol Banks of Frankfort, Kentucky.

Tornado Warning cancelled for Northern Adair Co.

Update as of 8:01pmET: THE TORNADO WARNING FOR NORTH CENTRAL RUSSELL...SOUTH CENTRAL CASEY AND NORTHEASTERN ADAIR COUNTIES IS CANCELLED...

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer appears capable of producing a tornado. Therefore, the warning has been cancelled.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM EDT/900 PM CDT/ for south central and central Kentucky.

Glen T. Corbin, 68, Sparksville, KY (1956-2024)

Glen Thomas Corbin of the Sparksville community of Adair County died on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at his home. He was 68 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 2pmCT on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Robert Adkins and Bro. Dave Book officiating. Burial will follow in Roach Cemetery, will full military honors presented by V.F.W. Post 6097.

Visitation is requested after 11amCT on Saturday.

Steel Magnolias auditions on May 19

The Harold Chambers Theater Troupe will hold auditions for "Steel Magnolias" from 2pmCT to 4pmCT on Sunday, May 19, 2024, in the Metcalfe County Public Library Community Center, 200 S Main St, Edmonton, KY.

Register now for free Family Fishing Day

The 4-H Outdoor Club is sponsoring a FREE Family Fishing Day from 9amCT to NoonCT on Saturday, June 1, 2024, as part of "Free Fishing Weekend" in Kentucky. The event will be held at Mt. Carmel Boat Ramp, 76 Richardson Rd, Columbia, KY.

We will be providing cane pole fishing kits for the kids to assemble, and then they can spend time fishing with their family. Lunch will be provided for the participants.

You must register for the event by clicking here: uky.az1.qualtrics.com. This opportunity is open to the first 40 who register. Registration ends May 10, 2024, or when all spots are filled.

Millerfield BIC Church VBS is May 18

KSP investigates officer-involved shooting in Taylor Co.

Campbellsville, KY - The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) has been requested by the Campbellsville Police Department (CPD) and Taylor County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on May 7, 2024 at approximately 4:28pmET in Taylor County.

At the request of the CPD and TCSO, KSP Post 15 Troopers and Detectives responded to the scene on Pitman Avenue in the city limits of Campbellsville. KSP initiated an investigation into the incident and it remains ongoing by the CIRT.

Active weather again Wednesday, flood watch in effect

The National Weather Service in Louisville says that "Another active day of storms is on tap. The severe weather and flood threat extends through both the daylight and overnight hours, with some potentially significant severe weather possible," including the chance of damaging straight line winds, large hail, and tornadoes.

Today's high will be near 80F, with south wind 8 to 13 mph. The chance of precipitation is 90%. A Flood Watch is in effect until 7amCT on Thursday, May 9, 2024 for an area that includes Adair and all surrounding counties.
