Betty Claire Jennings, 82, Columbia, KY native (1942-2024) Betty Claire Jennings of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 4, 2024. She was 82 years old. Betty was born and raised in Columbia, Kentucky by Oren and Mabel Bryant, who are now all reunited in what must be the most beautiful heavenly reunion. She raised three children, Chris (Tami) Reams, Billy Reams and Heather (David) Jacobi in a happy and loving home to be independent and thoughtful adults. She is also survived by her cherished siblings, Larry (Donna) Bryant of Columbia, Kentucky and sister, Carol Banks of Frankfort, Kentucky. Betty leaves behind 2 grand boys Ethan and Blake which she adored and poured her heart, soul and love into. She also dearly loved and was tickled to be a bonus "Mimi" to Stephanie (Tami) and her 6 children and (David's) Segan (Johnathon), Sabrina, Nolan, Scarlett. She received her Bachelor's in Elementary Education from Eastern Kentucky University and her Master's in Adult Education from Moorhead State. Betty began her teaching career in Ashland, Kentucky and then continued a long and fulfilling teaching career in Polk County. Her love of children was evident in the many students' lives that she touched throughout the many years as an educator. Betty spent much of her free time gardening and often was awarded the yard of the month by her community. Her most prized hobby was spending time with her children and grandchildren and her passing has left a profound loss for each of them. Her children invite friends and family to join them in her final send off to her heavenly home at Heath Funeral Chapel in Lakeland, Florida on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Visitation will be 10amET, Service 11amET, and a graveside service to follow at Oak Hill Burial Park. This obituary is a courtesy to the family by Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
