LWC to hold appreciation luncheon for Adair Co. veterans By Venus Popplewell The Lindsey Wilson College community will hold its 19th Annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon at 11:30amCT on Thursday, November 11, 2021. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, the meal will be held off campus at the VFW Post 6097, 500 Greenhills Drive, Columbia, Kentucky. The luncheon is limited to local Adair County veterans and their spouses. Face masks are encouraged. There is no charge to attend the luncheon, but guests are asked to RSVP by contacting LWC Office of Student Services at studentservices@lindsey.edu or (270) 384-8036. The keynote speaker will be US Army-Sergeant First Class, Retired, Quartermaster Ronnie Holt. The meal will be prepared by the Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center. Lindsey Wilson College students and staff will be on-hand to serve the meal. KSP: Juvenile killed in Casey Co. motorcycle/pickup collision By Tpr. Nick Hale Liberty, KY - Kentucky State Police Post 15 is investigating a two vehicle fatal collision that occurred on November 2, 2021, at approximately 7:24 P.M. eight miles north of Liberty on U.S. 127. Preliminary investigations indicate that a juvenile was operating a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle south bound on U.S. 127 when a 2020 Dodge pickup, turning off of KY 906, attempted to turn north bound on U.S. 127 and crossed in his path. The motorcycle struck the pickup in the left side and the driver was ejected. KSP: Post 15 to conduct safety traffic checkpoints By Tpr. Nick Hale Kentucky State Police Post 15 will be conducting periodic traffic safety checkpoints in the Post 15 area, which includes Washington, Marion, Taylor, Green, Casey, Russell, Adair, Metcalfe, Monroe, Clinton, and Cumberland counties. These checkpoints will be conducted as part of Post 15's highway safety efforts. Johnson and Brown selected to MSC Champions of Character By Kyle Jackson Meredith Johnson of the women's cross-country team and Noah Brown of the men's cross-country team were selected to the Mid-South Conference Champions of Character Team, conference officials announced on Wednesday. The MSC recognizes a Champions of Character Team for each championship sport. The student-athletes that are honored on the Champions of Character Team were nominated by their coaches based on their leadership on campus and in the community while demonstrating the five core character values of the NAIA.
