Football: LWC races to 100 wins

Since the rebirth of the Lindsey Wilson football program in 2010, the Blue Raiders and head coach Chris Oliver have pushed through a multitude of milestones.

With Saturday's 31-0 win over Pikeville (KY), the Blue Raiders hit the 100-win plateau in just their 12th season as a program. The Blue Raiders currently hold a 100-33 overall record including a 52-17 record in Mid-South Conference play.

Host families and LWC enjoy international student's foods

Friday's International Market Day at Lindsey Wilson College offered host families, students and faculty a taste of food from many countries prepared by Lindsey's international student body.

The annual event gives the international students an opportunity to prepare delicacies from their homelands.

Lindsey Wilson is a true global village. More than 100 international students from more than 30 different countries attend Lindsey.

COVID-19 News Brief & Vaccination Update 10/22/2021

Of today's 70 reported cases, 61 (87%) were unvaccinated and 17 of today's cases (24%) were in individuals 18 years of age or younger. Please take the necessary precautions to protect yourself and your loved ones. Consider getting the vaccine if you are eligible and haven't, and wear a mask when in indoor settings where there are large crowds.

Below are our area's COVID-19 vaccination uptake rates compared to the state average (last updated 10/20/2021).
  • State - 62.00%
  • Taylor - 54.15%
  • Pulaski - 51.01%
  • Russell - 47.55%
  • Green - 42.77%
  • McCreary - 42.49%
  • Wayne - 42.43%
  • Cumberland - 41.93%
  • Clinton - 40.44%
  • Adair - 39.08%
  • Casey - 36.61%
Statewide Testing Positivity Rate: 6.25%.

KYTC seeks public input on statewide transportation needs

Public encouraged to take survey to help shape long-range transportation plan

Frankfort, KY - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is updating its Long-Range Statewide Transportation Plan (LRSTP) and gathering input from the traveling public through a Kentucky Statewide Transportation Survey at GetThereTogetherKY.org. Input collected will be used in preparing a plan which will identify the goals, policies, needs, and improvement priorities that will set the direction of Kentucky's transportation system for the next 25 years.

Oct 23 is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

The Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia will be participating in the DEA National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day to be held from 8amCT to 4pmCT on Saturday, October 23, 2021.

Our collection point will be located a Kentucky State Police Post 15, 1118 Jamestown Street Columbia, KY.

All citizens that wish to participate may dispose of their current or outdated unwanted medication either in its original container or by removing the medication from its container and disposing of it directly into the disposal box. If an original container is submitted, the individual should remove any identifying information from the prescription label.

All solid dosage pharmaceutical products and liquids in consumer containers may be accepted. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container. The depositor should ensure that the cap is tightly sealed to prevent leakage.

Campbellsville University Family Weekend October 29 and 30

Campbellsville, KY - Campbellsville University's Family Weekend on October 29 and October 30, 2021, allows families to join their student on the main campus for a time of fun and reflection.

"We are excited to finally be able to welcome families back to campus!" Ashley Fox, director of alumni relations, said.

"This year's Family Weekend is a little later in the year than normal, but we wanted to give students a chance to really get back into the groove of campus life before bringing families back to visit," Fox said.

Marilyn C. Hunter, 77, Columbia, KY (1944-2021)

Marilyn C. (Cundiff) Hunter of Columbia passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Summit Manor Nursing Home. She was 77 years old.

The service and burial will be private.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 4pmCT until 7pmCT at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY.
