Turner scores 2,000th career point in LWC victory

By Brady Budke

Reagan Turner scored her 2,000th career point today as the Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team easily took down (RV) Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) by a final of 80-63 at Biggers Sports Center on Saturday afternoon.

Turner is only the third Blue Raider in school history to eclipse the mark. With her game-high 26 points today, she now has 2,013 career points and trails only Donna Burden (1988-93, 2,213 career points) and Viktoria Krell (2007-11, 2,110 career points) on the all-time LWC women's basketball points leaderboard.

Campbellsville University develops Diversity Policy Committee

By Ariel C. Emberton

Campbellsville, KY - Campbellsville University is making new strides in her continuing recognition and implementing diversity. A presidential committee is bringing various facets of the university together.

"The Diversity Policy Committee is a group working to address diversity concerns, issues and initiatives for the university," Dr. H. Keith Spears, senior vice president and assistant to the president, said. "I am pleased that Dr. John Chowning, executive assistant to the president for government, community and constituent relations, will be leading this important university team."

The group was established in June and is working to build on the university's past record of diversity and inclusion and to be more intentional on addressing the needs and concerns of Blacks and other underrepresented minority groups within the CU family including students, faculty, staff, coaches and alumni.

Gov. Beshear: New Highest Week of COVID-19 Cases

By Crystal Staley/Sebastian Kitchen

Frankfort, KY - Gov. Andy Beshear announced on Saturday that Kentucky has had its new highest week of COVID-19 cases, even with one day left to report and encouraged Kentuckians to keep fighting.

"With a day still to go, we have set a new one-week record for highest cases in the commonwealth," Gov. Beshear said. "We are all sacrificing so much right now; we are all tired - but let's do what it takes to crush this third surge of cases and defeat this virus once and for all."

"The imminent arrival of COVID-19 vaccines is a monumental scientific accomplishment offering great hope that this devastating pandemic can at last be ended," commented Dr. Steven Stack, commissioner of the Department for Public Health. "Initially, though, very limited quantities of vaccine coupled with complicated and changing distribution logistics mean not everyone can have access at the very start. It's essential that everyone work together and know that all Kentuckians will be given access as rapidly as vaccine supplies, shipping, storage, and handling limitations allow. There is a bright light of hope ahead; let's all support each other as we look forward to better days soon."

LCDHD COVID-19 Public Information Brief 12/4/2020

By Amy Tomlinson
Lake Cumberland District Health Department

On top of 5 new deaths today, we set a new record for active cases at 1,191. Also, area hospitals are now joining us in asking the public to mask and social distance, "Please Trust Us, Doctors Ask".

So please, let's all do our part in slowing the spread of COVID-19 by wearing our face coverings, avoiding crowds (especially in confined spaces), social distancing when around others, increasing our hand hygiene, increasing our general sanitation, and by avoiding the touching of our faces.
