But he also expressed his concerns in regards to COVID-19 and the risk of bringing our students back into the classroom, noting that social distancing, frequent hand washing, and mask requirements would present unique challenges to each grade level.

WLCU-TV/FM is rewinding with the CU community

By Amber Meade

Campbellsville, KY - Campbellsville University's TV station, WLCU, has a new show, CommUnity Rewind, that airs Friday nights at 6pmCT/7pmET.

The new show features host Alex Meade, television programming and production director for WLCU, talking to members of the Campbellsville University community about how COVID-19 is affecting their personal and work lives.

Since the university has moved mostly to a work-from-home operation, the TV station had to devise a plan to get interviews in a way that complied with health officials.

Their idea was to use Microsoft Teams to get the people into Meade's home, where he would use software to record their interviews and then edit them together afterward.

"So far, so good!" Meade said.

KYTC: Please keep signs from right-of-way

By Wes Watt

Mowing season along Kentucky state highways is fully underway and crews in the area are moving between counties. State forces and contract crews will be mowing roadsides, and crews will be removing litter on some highways as well.

KYTC officials ask Kentuckians to do their part by keeping the state right of way clear of temporary signs and other obstacles that can obstruct the path of mowers and pose a hazard for mowing crews and motorists. Folks should not be placing any political signs, yard sale signs, real estate signs or any other sign that has not gone through the official permit process through a District office. Any signs not officially permitted to be on state right-of-way will be removed. The signs will be kept at the local county facility for a limited number of days. Anyone wishing to collect their signage may arrange a pickup time by calling the local county facility.

Crews are already having issues with political signs illegally placed on state right of way. In addition, a number of signs advertising businesses and services are also being seen. Kentucky law prohibits placement of these unauthorized signs on state right of way. The prohibition also applies to signs attached to utility poles on the right of way.

Tribute With Kindness To The Forlorn

By Phil Coffey

Sometimes a well traveled memory path becomes too difficult and painful to travel.

Choose to meander through the road that leads to joy and laughter.

No time in life to mingle with those with thoughts of lost dreams and disaster.

Be kind to all, friends and foe.

And walk with those who really matter.

Carol Perkins: Breaking out of Solitary

Previous Column: Needing a vacation

By Carol Perkins

A Three Dog Night song popped into my head as I was driving home from Glasgow last Wednesday. Not a single word other than the opening was familiar, but the title flashed before me like a glow-in-the-dark bracelet. "One is the Loneliest Number" isn't a song on my playlist. It isn't a song that lingers in my head like "On the Road Again" or "Country Roads." I hadn't thought about the song before that moment down the Cumberland Parkway. I've NEVER thought about that song, yet suddenly, it was riding in my mind with me back to Edmonton.

On this particular day, I had been to the T.J. Pavilion for an ultrasound on my swollen leg (everything was fine). Other than two trips to Ace Hardware in Edmonton and my radio show on Tuesdays, I have been staying inside. When I went to the waiting room at T.J., I recognized a familiar pair of eyes above a mask that belonged to a friend whom I had not seen for months!

We couldn't talk fast enough. That limited time lifted my spirits. Then, I engaged in a conversation with the ultrasound person who graduated with my niece. We had a wonderful conversation about what he had been doing since then. I couldn't wait to call her in Jacksonville, Florida to tell her about our meetings. I had something "new" to share!
