Natalie Vickous is LWC contact person for student partners

LWC's Natalie Vickous is the contact person for exploring possible partnerships with Lindsey Wilson College students in capacity-building roles.

Natalie Vickous, Lindsey Wilson College Director of Civic Engagement and Bonner Program Director, presented information about her program at the monthly WATCH Coalition meeting at the Adair Health Department August 9, 2018.

She has the challenge of matching needs of community organizations to those of Lindsey students and facilitating connections and partnerships between the two.

Brenda Kay Alexander, 76, Adair County, KY (1942-2018)

August 2, 1942 ~ August 10, 2018 (Age 76)
She was a member of Beulah Chapel Church and a housewife. She loved spending time with her family. She was the daughter of the late Jessie Thomas & Lyda McGaha Holt, and the widow of Charlie Alexander She was a member of a large, respected Adair County, KY, family. She leaves 11 direct living descendants. Her final resting place will be in Murrell Cemetery.

Christine (Rice) Carney, 91, Adair County, KY (1927-2018)

February 12, 1927 ~ August 10, 2018 (Age 91)
She was a member of Knifley Christian Church, a homemaker, and babysitter. She was the daughter of the late Nathan & Mary Perkins Rice. and the widow of Stanley Carney Jr. She was the matriarch of a highly regarded Adair County, KY, family. She leaves 34 direct living descendants. Her final resting place will be in Taylor County, KY.

Dates set for Waterfowl Blind Drawings

Green River Lake WMA, Taylor and Adair counties: 9amCT, Saturday, September 29. The drawing will be at the Green River Lake U.S. Army Corps of Engineers office, 544 Lake Road., Campbellsville, KY (off KY 55 approximately nine miles north of Columbia). Registration begins at 8amCT.

Frankfort, KY - The dates are now set for the annual waterfowl blind drawings for Doug Travis, Lake Barkley, Barren River Lake, Green River Lake and Sloughs wildlife management areas (WMAs).

Hunters interested in participating in the waterfowl blind drawing must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid Kentucky hunting license, a Kentucky migratory game bird/waterfowl hunting permit and a federal migratory bird permit (also known as a duck stamp) at the time of the drawing. A hunter education card is also required of any participant born after Jan. 1, 1975.

FRANKFORT, KY (10 Aug 2018) - National Dig Safely Day has added meaning in Kentucky this year, since it occurs as the Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) begins enforcement of the state law that protects underground natural gas and hazardous liquid pipelines from excavation damage.

Simple Computational Arithmetic: Comprehending Forest Fires

When a Western United States forest fire is said to cover 300,000 acres its easier to comprehend in terms of "Adair Counties" as a measure of area. Adair County has 412 Square Miles. There are 640 acres to the square mile, which equals 263,680 acres. therefore a 300,000 acre Western Forest Fire is 1.137 Adair Counties in area..
