Judy Cox Allen, 71, Taylor County, KY (1947-2018)

She was a former beautician, and retired from Fruit of the Loom plant after 30+ years of service. She was married to Robert Marshall Allen, Sr. who preceded her in death in 2008.She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading and listening to music, and her beautiful singing voice will be dearly missed.

There will be a funeral service to honor her life on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 10amCT/11amET in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Burial will follow in the Jones Chapel Cemetery, 580 Bass Ridge Rd, Campbellsville, KY. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 2, from 4-7pmCT/5-8pmET.

Sheriff's report - Domestic call results in arrests

Domestic incident on Harris Road. While 51-year-old was being placed under arrest, 72-year-old allegedly came out of residence, armed with a shotgun and fired handgun. Officers talk older man into dropping weapon, but say he would not comply with other commands, and was forcefully taken into custody.
Note - A charge is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a subsequent court of law.

Paz-Holley Project: Bringing them home by Thanksgiving!

The treasurer reported today, July 31, 2018, that the Paz-Holley (P-H) Project gifts have jumped to $78,532, leaving a total now of $29,468 to raise in order to achieve its goal of $108,000 to buy the children's house. The goal to have this family of 12 in their home by Thanksgiving is on its way!

J.O.Y. Ministries treasurer Maggie Coleman reported today that donations to the Paz-Holley Project have now jumped to $78,532, on its way to the goal of $108,000 needed to completely pay for the house.

The original goal came about from prayers and discussions of how to help five young Adair County children who became homeless when their mother was murdered and their father was taken to jail in October, 2017. The five little ones were taken in by their mother's brother and his wife who already had five children of their own - making them sudden parents of ten children.

In his early life Garvey was a carpenter and plumber by trade. He enjoyed playing cards and horse racing. He was the son of Cornelius and Delphi Gosser Stephens, born in Russell County, KY.

The Adair County Ministerial Association invites students, parents, teachers and staff to a Prayer Walk at each Adair County school on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at 4:30pmCT. Law enforcement quells riot at Taylor Co. Detention Center - Early this morning

Disturbance reported to KSP Post 15 shortly after midnight this morning, Tuesday, July 31, 2018. Kentucky State Police, Taylor County Sheriff's Department and numerous Taylor County Deputy Jailers subdued a riot which originated from one particular cell housing 37 inmates. Several inmates transferred to the Marion County Detention in Lebanon. The Taylor County Detention Center now safely operational. KSP Tpr Dexter Colvin is continuing the investigation. Criminal charges are forthcoming.

FRANKFORT, KY (Thu 30 Jul 2018) - An initial printing of this year's Kentucky Hunting and Trapping Guide will arrive at license vendor locations by mid-August but it will not reflect proposed changes to the 2018 deer seasons, zones and requirements. Final deer regulations will appear in an updated version of the guide that will be available online in September at fw.ky.gov and at license vendor locations.
