New Zion Baptist - Small church with a Big Heart for Paz-Holley

Gift from New Zion congregation comes at a great time. It makes everyone think, "What If?" What if just 38 more congregations followed the example of New Zion this week? It could happen. Wouldn't that be a wonderful start to school for this very deserving family?

The Paz-Holley Project (P-H) took a big leap closer to its goal Monday, July 23, 2018 when Donna Graves, representing New Zion Baptist Church, gave their congregation's donation of $1,000 to help insure the Paz-Holley children can be in their own home by Thanksgiving 2018.

In accepting New Zion's gift, P-H Chairman Rick Wilson said, "We appreciate New Zion and all 41 churches that have donated to help the 12 member Paz-Holley family. If any church has not donated and would like a presentation made about the Project, we will be glad to send a speaker to share details of the circumstances and the need."

Epicurean Kentuckian: FM2 Onion, Diced Chicken & Farm fresh Eggs

2018-07-24 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Just two easy to clean skillets were needed to make this dish, and one was used to coarse dice the last of an Adair County grown tomato - the real star of the start of the day. Ingredients, besides tomatoes: Sweet-as-apples Black Dog Farm onions. diced chicken, swiss and cheddar cheese, porch side basil and a sprinkle of five sprigs of rosemary from Coview Farms plant, brought on cooked shrimp, farm gathered eggs from a friend who has a friend who is foundering the friend with eggs, dried onion for flavor, flax meal for flavor and fiber, two tablespoons of whipping cream, real dairy butter, and very tiny amounts of spices: Cayenne pepper, curry powder, coarse black pepper, basil flakes, turmeric & paprika. The coffee? Good enough. Not up to Patty's, but good enough. It tasted better on Noritake china from Lany Bray, in Columbia, new 49 years ago. No match for the lamb roast from FM2 Maury Lewis had us drooling over, but poor-folks delicious. We gave a thanks for the Creator, life in Columbia, our well mannered, grateful cat Blue, J.O.Y. Ministries and all the things which make us wonder why any South Central Kentuckian would live anywhere else. - EW

Zachery Oakes on dangers from syringes: Be vigilant at all times

Needles in public places are a dangerous hazard . . . thanks to local law enforcement for doing all they can to dispose of these needles before an accident occurs.
Comments re article 98581 Josh Brockman: Latest incident of syringes involves City Park

By Zachery Oakes

Local law enforcement deal with this type of issue quite frequently, from what I understand, so it is always a good idea to just be vigilant at all times, especially with children.

I do appreciate the Columbia Police Department releasing this information to the public.

Needles in public places are a dangerous hazard, and thanks to local law enforcement for doing all they can to dispose of these needles before an accident occurs. - Zachery Oakes
