Hungry Kids Cafe free food Saturday, 16 June 2018 at FM2

Kids eat free at the Hungry Kids Cafe, open Saturdays for breakfast and lunch at Farmer's Market on the Square, Corner Merchant & Campbellsville Streets, Columbia, KY 8am-1pmCT (our hours may be slightly different from FM2). Here's our menu for Saturday, June 16, 2018, and a reminder that it's meet the candidate day at the market, too:
  • Breakfast: Market omelette. Caitlin’s breakfast bread. Blueberry parfait.
  • Lunch: Pot roast. Potatoes and carrots. Salad with market veggies and a surprise dessert. UPDATE: Roast Beef Sandwiches, a cold Potato Salad, cuke/tomato salad, and icey-cold watermelon!!!
All kids eat free every Saturday. Parents are welcome to join children for a donation.

Traffic Advisory - Hugh Paxton Road in Green County

With progress of the Vaughn Curve reconstruction project in Green County, continuing work will require closure of Hugh Paxton Road at the US 68 intersection beginning Monday, June 18th. This stage of work should be complete and the road/intersection should reopen within three days. Access to Hugh Paxton Road will be available via KY 61 during the closure. Ruby Burton, 86, Adair County, KY (1931-2018)

She had worked at Fruit of the Loom and other sewing factories. She enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, quilting and loved being a mother and grandmother. She was the daughter of the late George and Flora D. Harmon Cook and the widow of Jimmy Burton. She leaves 39 direct living descendants.

Ruby Burton, 86 of the Morris Chapel Community, formerly of the Allen Schoolhouse area of Adair County, KY, passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 7:10pmCT after several weeks illness.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 1pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY with clergy officiating Bro. Junior Holmes. Interment will be in the Redmon Cemetery. The family requests visiting after 4pmCT Friday, June 15, 2018 at the funeral home.

ATS Mobility & Greer Excavating changing the face of GRCP - ALBUM

BUSINESS NEWS By Ed Waggener

A major reshaping of the landscape in Green River Commerce Park is underway. "We're really moving dirt," ATS Mobility/Wilkerson Auto Transport CEO Robin Wilkerson alerted CM yesterday.

The contract for the mammoth project was awarded to Greer Excavating of Knifley. It will take approximately one month to complete.

Adair Co. Fiscal Court Awards Road Department Materials Contracts- June 12 2018

Bids for materials for the Adair County Road Department were awarded to the low bidders at the June 12, 2018 regular session, vendors selected for the Fiscal Year starting July 1, 2018 are:
    Marathon Petroleum/per Michael J. Malec, territory manager, 8600 Cane Run Road, Louisville, KY, asphalt products.
  • Gaddie-Shamrock/per Roy Beard, President, 5045 Hwy 55 South Road, Columbia, KY, was awarded contracts for 1) Hot Mix Hauled and Laid in Adair County. 2) Chip n Seal for both single and double seals.
  • Burton Stone & Paving/per William Burton, CEO, Fairplay Road, Columbia, KY - Crushed Stone
  • Mid-Stete State Ready Mix/per Mike Mitchum 50 Kassem Road, Columbia, KY, concrete.
The vote was unanimous, with all Magistrates, Harold Burton (1), Daryl Flatt (2), Sammy Baker (3), Perry Reeder (4), Billy Dean Coffey (5), Greg Caldwell (6), and Terry Hadley (7) and CJE Michael Lee Stephens affirming.

Adair Co. Fiscal Court okays new Agreement with CKy911net - June 12 2018

The Adair County Fiscal Court unanimously approved a renewal of the agreement with the Central Kentucky 911 Network (CKy911net) owned by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government and managed by the Division of Enhanced 911. The new contract has an amendment which allows CKy911net to pass along increases in the cost of operating agencies, such as Adair 911, and other participating agencies.

Manchester man sentenced to 32 years in connection with violent carjacking spree

U.S. Department of Justice, Eastern District of Kentucky

LONDON, KY, - (Wed 13 Jun 2018 - Timothy Lawson, 31, of Manchester, KY, was sentenced today, to 32 years in federal prison, by United States District Judge Claria Horn Boom, on counts of brandishing and discharging a firearm during a carjacking.

Lawson entered a guilty plea to the charges in November of last year. According to the plea agreement, on July 21, 2016, Lawson unlawfully entered the residence and waited on the homeowner to return. When the homeowner arrived, Lawson met her, brandished a stolen shotgun, and threatened to kill her if she did not give him the keys to her vehicle. The homeowner complied and Lawson drove off in her vehicle.
