Ruby Burton, 86, Adair County, KY (1931-2018)

She had worked at Fruit of the Loom and other sewing factories. She enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, quilting and loved being a mother and grandmother. She was the daughter of the late George and Flora D. Harmon Cook and the widow of Jimmy Burton. She leaves 39 direct living descendants.

Ruby Burton, 86 of the Morris Chapel Community, formerly of the Allen Schoolhouse area of Adair County, KY, passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 7:10pmCT after several weeks illness.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 1pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY with clergy officiating Bro. Junior Holmes. Interment will be in the Redmon Cemetery. The family requests visiting after 4pmCT Friday, June 15, 2018 at the funeral home.



Ruby Burton, 86, Adair County, KY (1931-2018)

She was born August 5, 1931 the daughter of the late: George and Flora D. Harmon Cook of Adair County, KY. She died Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and eight days.

Mrs. Burton is survived by
  • One son: Robert Redmon of Russell Springs, KY

  • Four daughters: Janet Bennett of Edmonton, KY; Darlene (Johnny) White of Glasgow, KY; Debbie (Steve) Taylor of Breeding, KY; Anita (Bobby) Daniel of Columbia, KY

  • Thirteen grandchildren

  • Twenty great grandchildren

  • Two great great grandchildren

  • A special niece: Deloris "Sissy" Stapleton of Columbia, KY

  • A special friend: Gertrude Kerns of Columbia, KY
Ruby had worked at Fruit of the Loom and other sewing factories. She enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, quilting and loved being a mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by husband Jimmy Burton on March 30, 2008 and preceded in death also by two sons Stevie and Buford Redmon, and by five brothers and six sisters and by several nieces and nephews.
