Comment: Robert Flowers appreciates story on Mrs. Ruth Butler

Robert Flowers commented:
Thanks for the story of Mrs. Ruth Butler's 95th birthday celebration -- and can she really be 95?! I hope to be able to visit her and tell her what wonderful memories my brothers and I have of Dad's stories that include her and her late husband Cortez. Dad would tell us of our parents' wartime wedding where the Butlers stood up with the them and a bond was created. They all knew each other as fellow students attending Lindsey Wilson College. --Robert

Barbara Jean Larimore Stearman, 89, Green County, KY

She was a farmer at heart and poured her life into her family and the land that she loved. She managed the Stearman Dairy operation as well as working in the tobacco and other aspects of farming along with her husband. Her passion was found in the thousands of photos that she made of her family and their activities during her lifetime. Poetry by Joyce Coomer: March Flowers Tell Tales

By Joyce M. Coomer

On the way to work this morning, the March flowers seemed to be even brighter than usual. That reminded me of this poem I wrote a few years ago . . .

March Flowers Tell Tales
March flowers tell tales
Of long-ago homes
Houses whose mistresses
Cherished these harbingers of Spring
Glowing yellow amid leaves
Grayed by winter
Planted between yard and road
In lieu of a fence
Houses are gone
March flowers remain
Strewn down grader ditches
Multiplied and spread
Wave in the breezes
To travelers passing by
Some, as yet undisturbed,
Mark width of steps
Leading to a house
Whose untimely destruction
Grieved many souls
- Joyce M. Coomer
