Sophia Grace Wethington, infant daughter of Christopher and Brittany Smallwood Wethington, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, KY.

Funeral services will be held at 2pmET Saturday, March 3, 2018, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Shirley Denson and Bro. Phillip Smallwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-2pmET Saturday until the service at the funeral home.

ACHS Boys Basketball Team in 5th Regional semi-finals

Adair County Boys basketball team will play Larue County on Monday night March 5th in the semi finals of the 5th region tournament. The game is at Robey Dome, Marion County High School, 735 E Main Street, Lebanon, KY at 7:45pmCT/8:45pmET.

Gates for the game will not open until 6:45pmCT/7:45pmET as there is a game before between John Hardin and Campbellsville and the gym will be cleared afterwards.

The regular meeting of the Columbia City Council scheduled for Monday, March 5, 2018 has been cancelled.

A special called meeting will be held on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 6pmCT at City Hall. The agenda will be released next week.

Taylor County Grand Jury returns indictments Tue 27 Feb 2018

Indictments brought against 22 individuals from Campbellsville, Springfield, Columbia, Russell Springs, Elkhorn, and Buffalo, KY on charges including assault, theft, possession, burglary, bail jumping, wanton endagerment, trafficking and DUI.

NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

Those of you that have a current claim, either approved or in the process, please bring any correspondence with the Veterans Administration. If you wish to file an application for admittance to the VA system, we must have a copy of your DD-214 to file the application. BOWLING GREEN, KY - (1 Mar 2018) – The Tennessee Department of Transportation has scheduled Interstate 65 to be down to one lane in both directions on Friday, March 2, 2018, from 9am to 3pmCT, between mile markers 118 and 121 for pothole patching. The work is being done in a construction zone at the TN 109 interchange construction.

Marie Kemp Murray, Green County, KY (1921-2018)

She was a homemaker. She was a devout Christian and was a member of Greensburg Baptist Church. She was the matriarch of an outstanding Green County, KY family. the daughter of the late Samuel Emmit Kemp & Are Helen Judd Kemp. Her husband of 78 years, Thomas Murray, survives. She leaves six direct living descendants, spanning four generations.

William Larry Willis, 65, Taylor County, KY (1952-2018)

Mr. Willis was a retired teacher for the Taylor County School District, where he had taught English, History, and the Bible as Literature over 30 years. An unfortunate accident in 1971 left him with several physical ailments, but it couldn't dampen his loving and generous spirit as a father, husband, and friend.

LW Wrestling sends 11 to 2018 NAIA National Championships

Columbia, KY - Eleven members of the No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson wrestling team are gearing up for the 2018 NAIA Wrestling National Championships this Friday, March 2, 2018, and Saturday at the Jacobson Exhibition Center, E 30th Street & E University Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa.

Wrestling on both days is divided into two sessions. Session I begins on Friday at 10amCT with Session II following at 6:30pmCT. Session III begins on Saturday at 10amCT. Session IV - the championship finals - begins later in the day on Saturday at 7pmCT.

Frankfort, KY (1 Mar 2018) - As Kentuckians recover from flooding from recent rainfall and with more rain in the forecast, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Secretary Greg Thomas today issued an official order waiving hours of service regulations on commercial motor vehicles transporting petroleum and petroleum products in Kentucky. A State of Emergency was declared by Gov. Matt Bevin on Feb. 23, 2018, due to continued flooding in the Commonwealth.

KSP Post 1 investigating alleged Meade County kidnapping

Police find 17 year old with stab wound, who tells story of suspect, ex-boyfriend of her sisters, kidnapping her and sister. According to this account, the sister agreed to go to Pennsylvania with alleged abductor and leave one behind. Through coordinated police work, the get-away car was located heading North on I-71 in KSP Post 5's district, where, following a collision. The suspect was arrested on several charges including two counts of kidnapping. The investigation continues.

Salato Wildlife Center Education Center is now open

The Salato Wildlife Education Center, 1 Game Farm Road, Frankfort, KY, Frankfort reopened for the season beginning March 1. The center, which features exhibits of the state's fish and native wildlife, is a popular destination for families and school groups. Hours are 8am-4pmCT/9am-5pmET, Tuesday through Friday, and 9am-4pmCT/10am-5pmET Saturday. Salato is closed on Sunday, Monday and state holidays. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for youth 5 to 18. The day Mom, Geniece Leftwich Marcum, and I happened by an old, above ground tomb with one weathered end broken off, she leaned over to peer in, scanned its interior and said, "There's myrtle in there," at the same time as young neighbor Freddie Ray was passing by. It happened in Metcalfe County, KY, six decades or so ago. - LW
