George Rice: BJF must have had close relationship with Dr. Neat

George Rice writes:
Interesting article by Billy Joe. Sounds like he had known a close relationship with the late wonder story teller Billy Neat of Cane Valley and greatest entertainer ever known from the courthouse. With his great humor and imagination he was one of the most inspiring people I've known. With his lieutenant Maxwell Oaks he had something exciting going all the time. With his imagination and help from Maxwell, Columbia was alive and well all the time. --George Rice

Kentucky Color - Most Feared Creature

By Billy Joe Fudge

This is one of the most feared creatures in the Great Wooded South. No one has ever seen one move but anyone who has ever been in the deep, dark woods at night has heard them.

Firefighters, Coon hunters and the brave or ignorant who go traipsing through the boggy, soggy bottomlands alongside streams and rivers after dark have heard them.

Poetry by Robert Stone: Weasel way to wants

Weasel way to wants: a word-list sonnet
By Robert Stone, 11 Feb 2018
If I but think of you as daffodils,
I can address whatever with aplomb.
No flower ever set up thrills and chills,
no alchemy made silken skeins from scum.

Unsure I will at length equivocate,
and never leave a break for you to think.
No truth outlasts what lies eviscerate,
no wine of wisdom flows as swilling drink.

Resisted I will weasel way to wants,
and acclimate my helpers to deceit.
No opposition will be spared my taunts,
no voice of reason will escape defeat.

Without a doubt I doubt I will succeed
in keeping faith with what above agreed.
~ Robert Stone, 11 February 2018

Word list: acclimate – address – alchemy – aplomb – break – daffodil – equivocate – eviscerate – swill – weasel

Poetry in the Boro, Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Words suggested at the January 2018 meeting.
