Vonnie K lauds CAUD for using pitchers to dispense water

Vonnie Kolbenschlag writes:
How wonderful to see pitchers of water instead of bottles. Plastic bottles are filling landfills and choking waterways. Aquatic life is harmed by pieces of plastic. Although plastic bottles can be reused or recycled, most are used only once and trashed.

If plastic bottles are recycled, it is a help to recycling centers if the cap on the bottle is removed. The cap is a different plastic. Bottles can be easily smashed into bundles when lids are removed. Clear plastic glasses marked with a recycling "1" can be recycled.

Water is a precious necessary resource. Thanks for your effort made to supply us with ample safe drinking/cleaning water. - Vonnie Kolbenschlag

Mike Watson: On map making crime, misnaming Pettit's Fork

Comments re article 91465 Kentucky Color Pettits Fork Watercourse by Billy Joe Fudge

Mike Watson writes:
At some distant time you printed an item of mine on this subject, but I don't recall when. - Mike Watson
Thanks, Mike Watson - Yes. You addressed the issue in MIKE WATSON; C/AC not left out of geographic irresponsibility. Again, in Mike Watson: Oh, for Names, Places and Pronunciation!. Both these articles directly address the issue. But we notice, more importantly, you stick to your orthodoxy in everyday usage, as you did in this magnum opus on the history of oilfields in Adair County: A Year in the Life-Oil Speculation in Adair County, 1904-1905, or Oil Fever. . . . Thanks. EW

CAROL PERKINS: New Family Tradition, Year II, with Eme

The Perkins carry on New Family Tradition, taking a Grands + one grandchild on vacation. Last year it was Ireland with Luke. This year, it was Hawaii with Eme. - CAROL PERKINS, remembering an encounter in Cozumel
Next earlier Carol Perkins column: Carol Perkins: Happy Fourth of July

By Carol Perkins

You might remember that last year Guy and I started a new family tradition. Rather than going on our annual beach vacation that included our adult children, their spouses, and the grandchildren, we had a new plan. We decided to take one grandchild, starting with the oldest, with us on a vacation. In doing so, this would give us time to get to know them much better than being with them in a group.
