Kindergarten: Age cutoff now two months earlier By Wes Feese Media Relations, Adair County Schools Eligibility requirements for students entering kindergarten will be different for the 2017-18 school year, allowing students to enter at a slightly older age, per a new change in state regulations. According to the state Dept. of Education: "Beginning with the 2017-18 school year, the entry date changes from Oct. 1 to Aug. 1. A child who is 6 years old or who turns 6 by Aug. 1, must attend public school. A child who is 5 years old or who will turn 5 by Aug. 1 will be able to enroll in primary school." Richard L. Blaul, 77, Taylor County, KY (1939-2016) Mr. Blaul, a native of Chicago, IL, and a resident of Campbellsville, KY, at the time of his death, was a retired construction worker, doing plumbing and electrical work after having served his country faithfully for 10 years in the Navy.
