Jimmy Warriner, 77, Russell Co., KY (1938-2016)

He was a native of Jamestown, KY, and a resident of the city at the time of his death in Russell Springs KY. He was a son of the late Nellie Mae (Lawless) and Monroe Wariner. His wife, Rebecca Land Warriner, survives. He leaves 16 direct descendants.

She was a native of Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Etheridge Banks Curry and Inez Brockman Curry. She leaves 13 direct living descendants. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Valley View Baptist Church.

Memorial Day program at Edmonton, KY, Sun 29 May 2016

The annual Memorial Day program will be held at 1:30pmCT, Sunday, May 29, 2016 in the tent on the lawn of Historic Metcalfe County Courthouse, 100 E Stockton Street, Edmonton, KY. The Guest Speaker will be Paul Smith. Paul had a long and distinguished career in the United States Marine Corps. While serving in Hawaii, he was honored as the Outstanding Career Marine Officer of the year. LeAnna Bennett, the new Chairperson of Adair County’s Project Graduation, did not disappoint the 2016 Graduates last night with the 2016 Project Graduation.

There were tons of fun games and action activities on the main floor of the gym, a live DJ, card games, board games, twister, and poker around the top balcony of the gym, and over $32,000 dollars in cash and prizes.

She was a farmer and homemaker and a member of the Milltown United Methodist Church. She was a member of prominent Adair County family. She was the daughter of the late Roy Allen & Ruth Thomas Garrison and the widow of Robert Odell Baker. She leaves four direct living descendants.

Prayers for healing for Dr. Phil Aaron today

Phillip Reeves Aaron, MD, the doctor of so many in this region for the last four decades, continues to fight for his life. After hearing again there's been no change in his condition, I'm collecting prayer notes and good thoughts that family might read to him on visits -- just in case it's true that a person in a coma really can hear -- and just in case the words of his beloved patients might connect and support his healing.

Dr. Phil, as he has been known since way before the popular television doctor used that title, has been so important in the lives of our family for so long.

Flooding damage closes section of Ky. 591 in Logan County

BOWLING GREEN, KY (28 May 2016) – Flooding damage which occurred during last week's heavy rains has closed a section of Ky. 591 in Logan County at mile point 10.8 near the Simpson County line. Repair work is expected to begin June 1 and take about a month to complete. The roadway is expected to reopen on June 30, 2016. David Wells: Wonders about fallen brick at Historic Courthouse

David Wells writes:
The chimney on the Greensburg Street side of the Court House has many bricks dislodged and fallen into the gutter and on the roof on the Burkesville Street side of the chimney. It is extremely visible from the fountain location. I have not heard of any info about this. -- David Wells

60th Anniversary Celebration for Maurice & Juanita Cheatham

Maurice & Juanita Cheatham will soon celebrate 60 years of marriage. They were married in Cane Valley on June 16, 1956 by Brother H. J. Conover.

They have two children and four grandchildren.

A celebration reception will be hosted by their children on June 12, 2016 from 2pm to 4pmCT, at Lindsey Wilson College's Cranmer Dining Hall, 230 Helen Flatt Drive, Columbia, KY.

CES students learn about reptiles, amphibians from Clay Hill

When rain canceled at field trip to Clay Hill Memorial Forest, Amy Berry brought the forest to the students. The students learned about the difference between amphibians and reptiles and got to touch some of them

Campbellsville Elementary School students recently learned all about reptiles and amphibians.

Second-grade students had planned to a field trip to Clay Hill Memorial Forest, but had to cancel because of rain. Instead, the forest came to the students.

SHELBYVILLE, KY (27 May 2016) - The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet (EEC) today recognized Southside Elementary School for earning the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) ENERGY STAR certification, a national symbol for protecting the environment through superior energy performance. Certificates signed by Governor Matt Bevin and EEC Secretary Charles Snavely were presented to school officials during the May 26 meeting of the Shelby County Board of Education.

Lindsey Wilson's Mobley and Roberts earn All-American honors

Lindsey Wilson Track & Field Team competes at NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships beginning at 6amCT, today, at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium, 18999 Oak Road W, Gulf Shores, AL. Anthony Thompson makes his championship debut on Saturday, May 28, 2016, in the triple jump, while the men's 4x100 meter relay team of Holt Keeling, Dondre Mimms, Kevin Hallmon and Austin Hayes compete in the event finals. Mimms also competes in the 200 meter dash finals while Johnson is in the 400 meter hurdles finals.

GULF SHORES, AL - Desmond Mobley and Chanel Roberts earned NAIA All-American honors at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on Friday at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium.

Mobley finished as the national runner-up in the long jump event after reaching a distance of 7.62 meters (25-0 feet). He trailed only national champion Corion Knight of Florida Memorial, who reached 7.66 meters in the field of 24. Mobley becomes the 23rd Outdoor NAIA All-American in men's program history.
