News from Adair County Middle School

Over 150 students and family members attended Mad Scientist Night at Adair County Middle School on Thursday, March 24, 2016. Hands-on science labs were a hit with over 28 choices to participate in.

Students from a 6th grade ACMS advanced science and math class, several ACHS high school students and Lindsey Wilson College Leadership and Bonner Scholars presented as well.

A highlight was a planetarium that students could crawl in and look up at the constellations seen in the March sky. Thanks to everyone who was involved in this fun event!

He was a native of Burkesville, KY and a resident of Muncie, IN at the time of his death. He attended Cumberland County High School and moved to Muncie, IN in the 1960s. He was retired from Feeny Manufacturing in Muncie. He enjoyed fishing and working in his lawn. He leaves four direct living descendants.

TJ Foundation receives $500,000 gift to support Hospice Home

Gift names the Home and supports $2.5 million campaign

GLASGOW, KY - The TJ Community Mission Foundation announced a gift of $500,000 from five donors to support a new 6-bed hospice home in Glasgow. The gifts support the Love Makes a House a Home campaign and will name the hospice home "Shanti Niketan" (shawn-TEE NEE KAY-tun), meaning "peaceful place." The gift to name the Hospice Home includes a generous commitment from Drs. Bharat and Bharati Mody, along with gifts from Donna and Mike Bryant, Lisa and Dan Foutch, Kim and Owen Lambert, and an anonymous donor. To date, the Love Makes a House a Home campaign, which began with hospital and foundation board leadership commitment in December 2015, has raised over $851,000 in cash and pledges toward its $2.5 million goal.

THE CUT: a northern Metcalfe County, KY wonder

The Cut, as it is called by locals, was created around Civil War time as near as folklore of the region can tell. It is located in what was once a thriving little community known as Rockland Mills on the banks of the South Fork of the Little Barren River, just a couple of miles from Beechville and part of the greater Knob Lick, KY community.

As is typical in the home stretch of a legislative session, the bills moved fast and furiously through chambers with many bills arriving on the Governor's desk awaiting his signature.

38-year-old Sammy Scott, of Summersville, KY was walking on Aetna Grove Church Rd when an unknown vehicle struck him from behind.

WILLISBURG, KY (Mon 28 Mar 2016) - Tpr. Lincoln Lawless is investigating a collision that occurred Friday, March 25, 2016 at approximately 10:34pmET, on Main Street in Willisburg, KY.

Thirty-one-year-old Casee Barnett, of Willisburg, KY was operating an eastbound 1987 Honda Accord when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Barnett was not wearing a seatbelt and was treated for non life threatening injuries at Springview Hospital, Lebanon, KY.

Barnett was cited for Driving Under the Influence. Tpr. Lawless was assisted at the scene by the Willisburg Fire Department.

Mr. Jackie Thomas Bishop, Grab, Green County, KY (1954-2016)

He was a highly regarded citizen of Green County, KY. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Oak Grove Separate Baptist Church. Mr. Bishop was a lifelong farmer, a loving husband, Daddy, and Pa. He was a native of Green County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Weldon Bishop & Carrie Grances Gentry Bishop. His wife of over 40 years, Lillian M. Clements Bishop, survives. He leaves 10 living direct and one-on-the-way descendants, and one living step descendant.

Kayla Miracle qualifies for U.S. Olympic Wrestling Trials

Oklahoma City, OK - Campbellsville University's Kayla Miracle was one of three wrestlers to repeat as champions in the Women's University Nationals at Oklahoma City University's Freede Center on Saturday, March 26.

Miracle, a sophomore at Campbellsville University who was representing Sunkist Kids, won the event in 2014 for the Junior World's and is now picking up her second title in three years.
