Heavenly Hollow has first Christmas Village Postcard

2015-11-24 - 500 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ellen Zornes, Columbia/Adair Co. Chamber of Commerce.
The first Christmas Card on the square is up! Robbie Selch and his wife, Karen (face in cut out), owners of United Country Heavenly Hollow Real Estate and Auction, placed the first Christmas Card for the village today. Robbie said that they hated that they missed the Squarecrows but we're ready for this! Lee Ann Jessee has the master plan at the library, but the gist is to add them next to each other around the lawn of the courthouse, then we'll start on the perimeter of the Annex lawn. We're expecting a good sized village of the cards and we do ask to please remember to register your card at the library. Our square will soon 'be alive' again and what an opportunity for photo ops.

Miss Vicky just joking about the cow size blinders

Her animals will be just fine she says. Miss Victoria has begged for the lights at the KY 61/Cumberland Parkway interchange for years. She's thankful to Gov. Beshear and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet for making them a reality
Post in response to: State light shields could spare need for cow blinders

By Victoria Pike

I don't think it will be long before the lights will be on.

Electric lines were put in the ground today to connect the lights and the poles arrived yesterday and were being moved to the site this afternoon.

Guy Babin offers sanctuary in Cool Springs for Vicky's cows

And offers other gratuitous advice and neighborly comments on Miss Vicky's farming techniques and her new station as a weather prognosticator.
Comments re article 79159 Greater Bliss Where does one get cow size blinders

By Guy Babin

Miss Vicki: Might I suggest your pampered bovines take shelter from the new illuminations amongst the Great China Wall of hay rolls you've amassed this year. What a shadow they must create!

JM and I were contemplating just the other day if maybe you feel we're in for an epic winter based on the volume of your hay collection.

Have you become the Adair Co. counterpart to that yankeefied ground hog up north predicting winter's severity?

My mangy countryfied Gradyville cows don't seem to covet blinders nor bovine Ray Bans. They prefer to night graze and loaf under the unincumbered vividness of the milkyway and Orion.

Should one of your beloved charges succumb to a fried retena, you're welcome to convalesce them here in our dark Gradyville holler. --Guy Babin

The day the Nazis weren't bombing Bridgeport, Metcalfe Co., KY

Related by Phil Coffey

It's almost funny how relayed messages - heard on the radio and are therefore 'authentic' - get a bit mangled in the repetition.

Phil Coffey, a Keltnertown expert, recalls that a story he often heard repeated from World War II was of Keltner resident in a panic after hearing the war news. He came in the store and announced, "I've got to get home! The Germans are bombing Bridgeport!"
