The Columbia-Adair Chamber of Commerce honors and asks the community to join us in promoting and supporting our local businesses. Christmas, the busiest holiday shopping season has appropriately been chosen to celebrate our community businesses by sponsoring a three week "Support Local Businesses" campaign.

The Chamber Shop Local promotion will begin November 28 and continue through December 19. This three week event spotlights the importance of our local businesses and encourages our community to shop at Columbia-Adair County businesses.

During this promotion, local participating Chamber businesses will be offering shoppers the opportunity to win one of five $100 cash prizes ($500 total).

When we shop, eat and have fun locally we invest in our community by sustaining businesses owned by friends and neighbors who live, work, pay taxes and support Columbia and Adair County. By spending locally more of your money remains at home supporting the local economy, community job creation, infrastructure, libraries, recreation, schools and other amenities and services that make our community a great place to call home. Shopping local also supports our local heritage of unique and one-of-a-kind businesses and services that distinguishes our community’s character.

Local businesses are the backbone of our economy! On a dollar-for-dollar basis, the local economic impact of independently owned businesses is significantly greater than that of national chains. Three times as much money stays in the local economy when you buy goods and services from locally owned businesses.

We encourage everyone to join us in supporting and celebrating Columbia-Adair County’s small businesses, during the designated November 28 to December 19, and every day during the year. Remember to register to win cash prizes at local participating Chamber member businesses. If you have questions, or need additional information, please contact the Columbia-Adair Chamber of Commerce office at 270-384-6020 or Brenda Mann at 270-634-0448.
