Writer can't believe reader didn't recognize satire

Columnist is lifetime regular church goer, Sunday School teacher, and G.A. Leader

Nancy Evins writes:
My goodness, Mr. Shepherd, you don't seem to recognize satire, do you?

I am a regular church goer and have been since my early days, having worked in Vacation Bible Schools in Appalachia and housing projects as well as in my own church. I have been a Sunday School teacher, a G.A. (Girls' Auxiliary) leader, and worked on many committees. I have traveled with youth groups as a chaperone too many times to recall. My children are also faithful church goers.

This whole article was a sarcastic view of those (not me) who say they can't go because of the hypocrites and then I point out that hypocrites can be found anywhere. I go on to list the good things that church members do.

I can't believe anyone would have interpreted this article the way you did. --Nancy Evins

Family was very important to my parents and the years before my nephews and nieces grew up were probably the most special. There were six of us children with me being the youngest by several years.
