Letter: God Bless All Those That Protect and Serve

Ed Darnell writes:
Ed,

I agree with Chris 100 percent. When these brave men and women leave their homes each day, they do not know if they will return. They put their lives on the line each and everyday to protect the common good. Our society is upside down, they are the ones that should be making the big money. Not the men that make their living playing with balls. When we as a society decide that our teachers, police officers and those that have a real impact on our communities are the real heroes and not those that provide us with entertainment, then we will see real change.

To put it simply, the Jesters in the Kings court are now the Kings. How sad!

Ralph Waggener adds note on Chris Knifley letter

To Chris Knifley, via CM, on his defense of early retirement
Your father, Don Knifley, would make a good officer even today. With his years of experience comes know how that youth just doesn't have. Young officers may be stronger, but they do not possess the strength or know how which comes from years of experience.

Why retire police officers just as they get the knowledge of how best to handle the people they have to deal with? With age comes knowledge that you just can't teach in a class room. - Ralph R. Waggener, editor, It's Just for a Smile News
