2013 Metcalfe County Christmas Parade is on! Today

The parade will be held UNLESS roads are covered in ice or if it is raining an absolute flood! Entries will be accepted today between 9am-11amCT. Already, the parade promises to be the biggest one in E/MC parade history, with one expected from as far away as Fayro, Texas.

The Metcalfe County Christmas Parade will be Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 1pmET The Edmonton-Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce conducts the parade. The parade will follow the same route as in previous years, beginning at Metcalfe County Intermediate Center, 206 Education Way, Edmonton, KY. Signs and or volunteers will direct persons as to where floats, etc. will park for lineup. The parade will proceed to and circle the square and then return to the school.



By all indications thus far, this should be one of the biggest Christmas parades in Metcalfe County for a very long time! The Chamber of Commerce is so pleased that there are several school floats registered! And we have heard rumors that there might be an entry from as far away as Fayro, Texas! We just love Christmas! The seven divisions and prize monies for participants are:
  1. Float ( Business/Industry): Cash prize 1st place $100, 2nd $50
  2. Float (School): Cash prize 1st place $100, 2nd $50
  3. Float (Civic): Cash prize 1st place $100, 2nd $50
  4. Float (Church): 1st place $100, 2nd $50
  5. Float ( Family/Friends) 1st place $100, 2nd $50
  6. Vehicle: Cash prize 1st place $25, 2nd $15
  7. Miscellaneous: Cash prize 1st place $25, 2nd $15
There are no entry fees. All entries must be decorated for the holidays.

This year's parade theme is "Candy Christmas" submitted by Metcalfe County Primary Center Pre-school Student Emma Petranek. Emma received twenty-five Metcalfe Dollars and will ride with Santa in the parade.

Kaden Scott is the 2013 Grand Marshal of the Metcalfe County Christmas Parade. Kaden is the nine year old son of Missy Caffee Gearlds and Kelly Scott. He is 3rd grade student at Metcalfe County Intermediate Center.

Kaden is a delightful little boy with a million dollar smile who has dealt with many difficulties in his short life. Recently, he was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma Cancer and is going to Kosair' s Children Hospital in Louisville for treatment.

All registration forms should be returned to the Edmonton-Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce office by noon Friday, December 13, 2013. However; one may register the day of the parade between the hours of 9am and 11 am. Entries arriving after 11amCT, may be in the parade, but are not guaranteed to be judged. All entries must be at the Edmonton Elementary School parking lot by 12 p.m. on Saturday, December 14th. Chamber web site at Edmonton/Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce.
