Columbia Police make 4 arrests in Lee's Famous Recipe robbery All four suspects from Columbia; one apprehended in Campbellsville, KY By Ofc. Josh Brockman News from the Columbia Police Department. Chief, Jason Cross On Wednesday, August 21, 2013 Columbia Police Department arrested four Adair County residents in connection with the 2013 Robbery of Lee's Famous Recipe located at 105 Hudson street. On June 26, 2013 a black male entered the business through a unlocked back door making contact with employees as they were closing the store. The male then presented a handgun and demanded cash. The suspect fled the store on foot with approximately $1,495.00 in cash. After a 7 week investigation led by CPD Detective Tracy McCarol the case was submitted to the Adair County Grand Jury on August 16, 2013. Three arrests made in Frito Lay warehouse thefts Owners reported $1,700 in merchandise taken from warehouse on South Columbia Avenue By Ann Sanders News from the Campbellsville Police Department The Campbellsville Police Department today (August 21, 2013) made arrests in a theft investigation. On August 15, 2013, the Campbellsville Police Department received a report of a theft at the Frito Lay distribution warehouse in south Campbellsville. Officer Bart Gilpin responded to the scene located off of South Columbia Avenue. The owners reported the theft of approximately $1700.00 in merchandise in the form of potato chips, snacks, and other Frito Lay products from the facility. Officer Gilpin initiated an investigation and developed information identifying the perpetrators. A portion of the merchandise was located, recovered and returned to the owner. Officer Gilpin arrested Denise Lamer; w/f; age 20, Eric James Novak; w/m; age 22, and Ronald Eugene Osinger, Jr.; w/m; age 33 all of Campbellsville. The three were charged with Theft By Unlawful Taking - over $500.00. The case remains under investigation. Additional persons of interest are being sought and additional arrests are pending. Adair, Casey, Monroe among counties receiving LEPP Grants Governor Steve Beshear announced on Monday, August 18, 2013, that $143,112 in state Law Enforcement Protection Program (LEPP) grants have been awarded to 17 law enforcement agencies, including an award of $7,980 to the Adair County Fiscal Court, Columbia, KY, for body armor, and $3,330 to the Casey County Fiscal Court, Liberty, KY also for body armor. Campbellsville Police investigates E Maple shooting incident No foul play suspected By Anne Sanders The Campbellsville Police Department today, Wednesday August 21, 2013) investigated a shooting incident. The Campbellsville Police received a report of a shooting at 620 East Maple Street at approximately 7:45amET this morning. Officers and CTCEMS responded to the apartment building located at 620 East Maple Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that Stephan Thompson, male, age 32, was suffering from a gunshot wound. CTCEMS attended to Thompson and transported her to Taylor County Regional Hospital for treatment. Officers Andy Warren, Bart Gilpin, and Ben Riggs initiated an investigation. Following such an event, the potential exists for bacteriological contamination of the water supply therefore this Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure.Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using. This advisory will remain in effect until the situation has been corrected and test results have shown the water to be of an acceptable quality. Election 2014: CJE Ann Melton will seek re-election In completely unequivocal terms, Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton gave an a simple answer when asked on Monday, August 19, 2013, whether she would seek re-election. "I will be a candidate for re-election," she said. Judge Melton has already served two terms as CJE. Prior to that, she was twice elected County Court Clerk. Her career in County Government began when she was 18 years old and was hired as deputy clerk for Adair County Court Clerk Robert White. If the past is any indicator, whe will be among the first to file on or after the earliest date, Wednesday, November 6, 2013. The Primary Election will be held May 20, 2014; the General Election, November 4, 2014. Thus far, CM has also posted that Adair County Jailer Rick Wilson will not be a candidate in the 2014 elections.
