2013-08-10 - ACPC, 158 Col. Casey Drive, Columbia, KY - Photo CM staff photo. Areas at Adair County Primary Center still under construction when classes start on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 are locked off. Children won't be able to get in the construction area and construction workers won't be able to enter the classroom area, Superintendent Alan W. Reed says. On the other side of this locked door is the cafeteria/auditorium, which is connected by an already finished double stage connecting to a similar room, the gymnasium/auditorium. It too will be secure. Superintendent Reed says that for approximately the first 10 days of school, lunches will be prepared in other campus cafeterias and transported to ACPC.

BBQ Sandwich, Chocolate Zucchini Bread awesome at FM2

Comments re article 61196 Ad Farmers Market on the Square for August 10 2013 Lisa White writes
I arrived at the Farmers Market at approximately, 11:15amCT and there were only 2 vendors, Jay Cox and Caitlin Helm, and someone packing up their apples. The ad states that 12pm is the end time. Maybe it should read 12pmCT or earlier if it rains or when we feel like?

Thankfully I didn't have far to travel. Anyway, the two that were there had great product and I gladly spent my money with them. The BBQ shoulder sandwich and the Chocolate Zucchini Bread were awesome! Thanks so much to those two vendors! - Lisa White
Thanks the comments There was a heavy downpour which necessitated the early exodus,we've been told. Hope that makes the situation more understandable. - CM

Sad word of the passing of Jimmy Reliford

He was an international celebrity, star of Backyard Oil

The sad word of the passing of Jimmy Reliford earlier today has reached us. He was bigger than life, a giant figure in South Central Kentucky, and yet, one of the most down to earth, modest individuals one could ever meet. "He was genuine, generous, honest - the real thing. His passing will, no doubt, dominate conversations for many days. He was our great friend. He was my friend. I've been honored to know him, as I know all who knew him feel." - Larry Smith, FM 92.7 the WAVE and FM 99.9 FM, the Big Dawg

Funeral arrangements are are incomplete, and will be posted on ColumbiaMagazine.com and heard on FM 92.7 and FM 99.9 when received.
