Keith (Kevin) Burton, 79, Adair Co., KY (1933-2013)

He was a member of a prominent highly regarded Adair County, KY, family, the son of the late Carl & Altha Pyles Burton. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a farmer. He is survived by his wife, Theril Wheeler Burton. He leaves four direct living descendants.

Burial in Bearwallow Cemetery, 6090 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4pmCT/5pmET, Sunday, July 7, 2013, at the funeral home.

I never saw a rainbow so wide as this one on Lone Valley Road at the entrance to Green River Lake State Park. Are we lucky to live in South Central Kentucky? Susie Mae Matney Hedgespeth, Green Co., KY (1952-2013)

She was a native of Green County and a resident of Bowling Green, KY, at the time of her death. Her husband, Tony Hedgespeth, survives. She leaves five direct living descendants. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Living Hope Baptist Church in Bowling Green, KY. She was also a Quality Control Manager for Fruit of the Loom, Inc.

Reeds Ferry in Butler Co, roads in Logan closed due to high water

Reeds Ferry on the Green River in Butler County is closed due to rising water levels in the river. Additionally, several roadways are reported closed in Logan County due to flooding rains that have occurred during the based few days. The following roadways are closed:
  • KY 1153 - mp 4-5
  • KY 3201 - mp 0-1
  • KY 739 - mp 3-4
  • KY 1151 - mp 0-2 and m.p. 4-7
  • KY 107 - mp 4-5
  • KY 1041 - mp 8-9
  • KY 765 - mp 1-2
  • KY 1308 - mp 0-1
These roadways will be re-opened as soon as the flooding recedes. Remember, never drive through a roadway covered by water. Seek alternate routes as necessary. - Greg Meredith

Taylor Co. driver injured in 1 vehicle accident on Saloma Road

The driver of a 1998 Oldsmobile Bravado was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 7:19pmET, Friday, July 5, 2013, on Saloma Road, Campbellsville, KY. The Taylor County Sheriff's Department reports that Wiliam Reynolds, 18, of Hodgensville Road, Campbellsville, KY, was traveling south on Hwy 527 when exited the curve just north of Wedgewood, and the vehicle left the roadway to the right, struck a ditch and overturned. He was transported to Taylor Regional Hospital by Taylor County EMS. Injuries unknown at time of report. The accident was investigate by TCS0 Deputy Mark Dickson.

The Farmer's Market on the Square encourages young entrepreneurs

The Farmer's Market on the Square welcomes its newest and youngest member, 15 year old Evelyn Moore.

Evelyn first started sewing at age 8 making clothes for her favorite little stuffed dog Katie. By age 11 she had advanced on to larger projects making this cherished quilt for her mother.
