As of 5:30pmCT on June 21, 2013 the boil water advisory for residents on
Russell Springs Road, R.Grider Road, Rutledge Road, A. Jones Road, Dry Hollow Road, and from Russell Creek to Hwy 80 on Gentry Mill Road, and Atchley Road,
has been lifted by the Division of Water Columbia office. This means your water is safe for human consumption. You no longer have to boil your water. Thank you, CAUD (Columbia/Adair County Utilities District.

Darlene Campbell Murals: First at Pablo's



2013-06-21 - Pablos Mexican Grill, 1764 Campbellsville Road, Columbia, KY - Photo art by Darlene Campbell. These murals in Pablo's Mexican Grill were commissioned by earlier ownership. They remain a part of the art in the restaurant, now owned by Antonio Aquino. The restaurant now has four murals by the Columbia, KY artist, author, poet, teacher and entertainer.

Mural Album: Darlene Campbell dining room murals

The artwork of Darlene Campbell now adorns the the walls of at least three Columbia restaurants: Pablo's Mexican Grill, TaP's Diner, and Anderson's Pizza. CM is collecting photos of the works for fans of Darlene Campbell.

WKU Regents approve 3 percent tuition increase for 2013-2014

$393,959,000 budget for Western Kentucky University increased 1.4 percent. Tuition increase is lowest in 16 years. Regents elect J. David Porter, Lexington, chair; Frederick A. Higdon, Lebanon, vice chair; and Dr. Melissa B. Dennison, Glasgow, secretary.

COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson College will celebrate the official start of summer with the inaugural season of TheatreFest!, starting tonight, Friday, June 21, 2013, at 7pmCT, in the V.P. Henry Auditorium, 210 Lindsey Wilson Street, Columiba, KY.

The new regional summer drama program will begin with a performance of Robin Hawdon's farcical Perfect Wedding on June 21, the day of the summer solstice. The inaugural season of TheatreFest! will also include a 75th-anniversary celebration of Thornton Wilder's beloved Our Town and a one-man performance of Mark Twain by Robert Brock.

The countdown for students to return to classes in the Adair County School District is 54 Days, First day for K-12 students is Wednesday, August 14, 2013. Here's a number of interesting facts about Back to School in America from the U.S. Census Bureau. The most significant one is the last one: Rewards of Staying in School. $81,761 That's the average earnings of full-time, year-round workers 18 and older with an advanced degree (bachelor's degree or higher) in 2011. Frankfort, KY. - When the Mississippi and lower Ohio rivers drop to their normal summer pool at this time of year, the Endangered least tern shows up to nest on the exposed sand islands. Human disturbance can impact this nesting.

"Least terns are the only endangered species that nests in Kentucky," said John Brunjes, migratory bird biologist for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. "They nest on isolated sandbars that are protected from predators and human disturbance."
