JIM: Western's commencement redux

Without a doubt, as each graduate's name is called and as each red towel is handed out, Dr. Henry Hardin Cherry and Adair County's own Uncle Ed Diddle are looking down, smiling and giving hearty nods of approval. - JIM

By Jim

I had the pleasure of attending Western's Graduate College commencement on Friday evening, May 10th. The entire program ran about an hour and fifteen minutes and included individual recognition for each of the several hundred degree candidates; brief hooding ceremonies for the half dozen or so doctoral candidates; remarks from the President of Western, a member of the Board of Regents, and others; and the presentation of several academic awards. In short, it was an impressive ceremony organized and conducted to make it the best experience possible for the degree candidates and their family and friends.
