Birds of KY: Doves

2013-03-16 - 314 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by George Rice. Thought I heard a worm - Caught this little fellow almost asleep on a guard rail back of Burton Ace Hardware. After taking his sleepy picture I was admiring him/her when suddenly the little fellow turned and peered over the side and then hopped off to enjoy a gourmet of fresh worm. Amazing how birds know just where and how to find the food of their choice. - George Rice, Burton Ace Hardware 314 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY

Syntactically Upright Montpelierite sends prayer (Up? Out?)

The Syntactically Upright Montpelierite writes:
A Prayer for the Proper Prepositionist

Dear Lord:

I know you're busy these days, dealing with war and world hunger and a new Pope and Republicans and all, but this is *really* important. Please, Lord, always guide my hand so it never strays into the realm of your adversary and at the end of a sentence puts a preposition.

Amen.

Comment: Rule up with which CM might should put

Comments re photo 48761 Scenic SC KY Signs in the sky over Sacred Triangle Tine Reynolds writes:
To answer the question about the Sacred Triangle, obviously everything is "behind the preposition "at." Remember how we were given that smart-alecky rule to help us remember not to use "at" at the end of a sentence? Isn't that funny? Now nobody seems to mind in the least probably. So to return to wherever your thoughts were at . . . - Tine Reynolds
Thanks: Thanks. Even though we subscribe to the notion that the rule was a grammar myth in the first place, your observation is taken under advisement. CM will do better; certainly don't want to be a disgrace to Torch Ridge. Thanks. -EW

Darren Ballou leads LWC to 2nd Round NAIA nationals victory

Former Adair County High School star has Career High 19, sends Lindsey Wilson past Faulkner 66-60 and into NAIA Men's Basketball Quarterfinals at 301 West 13th Street, Kansas City, MO

By Dan White
News from Lindsey Wilson College

KANSAS CITY, MO - With its postseason future looking bleak, No. 2-seed Lindsey Wilson handed the ball to senior Darren Ballou and let him lead the way to a 66-60 win against Faulkner (Montgomery, AL) in the second round of the NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship on Friday night at Municipal Auditorium.

Friday's game actually finished early Saturday morning at about 12:25amCT, but Ballou had no intentions of putting the Blue Raiders to bed. Instead the Columbia, KY., native knocked down a career-high five threes to finish with a career-best 19 points. Ballou had four threes in the first half, including two in the final two minutes as Lindsey Wilson chopped a 10-point deficit down to two at 31-29 by halftime. - Dan White
