Comment: A.L. Sinclair is right - roadsides are a mess

Writer has had 11 tire punctures in three months from debris which didn't make it to the Transfer Station on L. Willis Road. She writes, 'It looks bad for the community as a whole when people interested in moving or investing in our county come off the Cumberland Parkway to see trash and debris scattered all along and sometimes in the roadways'

By Victoria Pike
Personal commentary

I wholeheartly agree my A.L The roadsides are a mess.

It is a shame that people don't respect their community enough to try to keep it clean.

In the last two to three months I have had eleven flat tires on my tractor traveling from the farm in front of Walmart to the farm 1 1/2 miles south on Burkesville Road, KY 61S.

Suggests change to Burkesville Street entrance

By Ralph Roy Waggener
Personal opinion of the editor of It's Just for Smile News

On the subject of the Public Square, the two lanes coming in on Burksville Street: If the state would let a curved white line continue on to the Square a short distance to help drivers understand when they are in the right position to not run in to the other lane, if would help.

Both lanes need to turn to the right even if going around the Square or proceeding to Jamestown Street.

Power Outage Reported, 7:40amCT: Back on at approximately 9amCT

UPDATED: 9:40amCT, Jerri Nixon in the Adair County Judge's Office said that the power is now back on.
UPDATED: At 8:20amCT, power was lost for a large portion of Adair County. At this time, Emergency Management Director Greg Thomas has reported that the problem is likely due to an East Kentucky Power Company transmission line to TRECC and KU. However, the exact source of the problem has not been identified, and it's not known how long the outage may last.

Judge Executive Ann Melton called and asked that no one call 911 unless it's a time-sensitive emergency. It's very important to keep the 911 lines open.

For information about the outage, you can follow updates on ColumbiaMagazine.com, or use radio. We've received word that Larry Smith is broadcasting on 92.7, thanks to a backup generator at their tower.

No weapons involved, no one ever in danger

From Larry Smith, FM 92.7 The WAVE and FM 99.9 The Big Dawg

He said that all parents were notified by Call One. He said that copycat incidents are happening all over the nation, including Kentucky, and this one was one of those.
