The Columbia City Council voted to designate the connector road from the Adair Veterans Memorial Bypass as Westwood Drive and, at its "T" with the new Sportman Club Road, have the right hand continue as Westwood Drive, and the left become a new road, Sportsman Club Road. The proposal, by Adair County 911 Mapping and Addressing Coordinator Justin Bailey, was approved 6-0. The city will be responsible for one sign. Sportsman Club Road and the Sportsman's Club are in the County; Westwood Drive is in the City. The photo was taken at the Monday, January 7, 2012, City Council meeting. Paired photo. He was the patriarch of a large, highly regarded Adair County, KY family. He is survived by his wife, Manette Smith Holmes. He leaves 14 direct living descendants. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, member of the Adair Gideon Camp, was a farm equipment dealer, farmer, merchant and real estate agent

Gov. Beshear opens section of reconstructed road in Casey Co.

$3.9 million project eliminates dangerous curve on KY 1649, corrects steep grade

FRANKFORT, KY - Governor Steve Beshear today joined with local and state officials to celebrate and ceremonially open a reconstructed section of KY 1649 designed to improve safety and traffic flow in Casey County.

The $3.9 million project eliminated a sharp curve and corrected a steep grade.

Campbellsville PD initiates death investigation

Woman found inside Brookside Cemetery, unconscious and unresponsive; Deputy Coroner later pronounced her dead at the scene. Investigation ongoing, but no foul play suspected

From Campbellsville, KY Police Department

The Campbellsville Police Department initiated a death investigation on Friday, January 4, 2013, upon receiving a report of an unknown person found lying inside the Brookside Cemetery. The person was reported to be unconscious and unresponsive.

Officer Ben Riggs responded along with members of the Campbellsville - Taylor County Emergency Medical Services and Campbellsville Fire & Rescue. The unconscious person was examined and determined to be deceased. The Taylor County Coroner's Office was notified and Deputy Coroner Judy Dabney arrived on the scene and pronounced the person deceased.

The unresponsive female was identified as Teresa Druin, age 50, of Campbellsville. The incident remains under investigation and is classified as a Death Investigation. No foul play is suspected.

Beginning beef farmers course will be offered in Columbia, KY

The Adair County Cooperative Extension Service will be hosting an 8-session education program for beginning beef farmers starting at 10amCT/11amET, January 16, 2013, at the Adair County Extension Service, 409 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY, with classes one time per week afterward. The class will meet once a week from thereafter. Participants will receive both classroom and hands-on training. Registration for the program is $40 per person. Program made possible through a grant from KY Farmstart and the USDA Beginner Farm & Rancher Program.
