She was a member of a respected Taylor County, KY family, the wife of Joe Rock, who survives. She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Temple. She was employed as a salesclerk with JC Penney in Campbellsville and was retired from GTE.

Robert Jesse Loy, Adair Co., KY (1932-2012)

He was a member of a prominent, distinguished Adair County, KY family. He was a member of Columbia Christian Church, a dairy farmer, and founding member of Adair County Rescue Squad. He was a real estate agent and auctioneer for 40 years. He was President and owner of Kentucky Crude Oil and was a Korean War Veteran who served his country in the United States Army

Christmas in Columbia Arts & Crafts booths available

Adair Heritage Association makes space available in Historic Courthouse

Arts & Crafts are planned for Christmas in Columbia 9am-3pmCT, Saturday, December 1, 2012, in the Historic Adair County Courthouse, 500 Public Square, Columbia, KY.

The Adair Heritage Association will have booths available to sell arts and crafts done by area residents. Anyone interested in reserving a 10' by 10' space should contact Charles Grimsley at 270-384-5658. Space is limited. The cost is $10 per space. Vendors are advised to bring own table and chairs. There will be a few spaces with electricity available for an additional $5.00. The deadliine is is Monday, November 26, 2012. - Charles Grimsley

Virginia Bell Sweeney, 94, Casey County, KY (1918-2012)


Graveside services are 1pmET/12pm noon CT, Friday November 16, 2012 at Glenwood Cemetery with Bro. Homer Hecht officiating. Visitation is 11am-1pmET/10am-12pm noon CT, Friday November 16, 2012 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY.

Virginia Sweeney's story ended on November 13, 2012 at her home in Liberty, KY. She was 94. Her story began on February 26, 1918 when she was born to Bowen and Myra Fleener Bell in Glendale, KY. She married Garnett Jones Sweeney Sr. on September 11, 1939. They had been married 71 years at the time of his death in 2011. To their union were born Garnett Jones Jr., Barbara Sue, and Donald Bell Sweeney.

It's a bit chilly this morning up here at Tucker's Station. Our low today was 23 degrees. Combine the temperature with yesterday's rain and we have the best frost of the season.

I have no idea what possesses me to run out at sun up on a freezing morning to take photographs but I just love the sparkle and couldn't resist this beautiful Hibiscus seed pod, in the accompanying photo. - Barbara

Lindsey Wilson College baseball is projected to repeat as the top Mid South Conference team in 2013. A coaches poll placed Lindsey Wilson No. 1, Georgetown College (Georgetown, KY) No. 2, Cumberland University (Lebanon, TN) No. 3, and Campbellsville University (Campbellsville, KY) No. 4. Veterans Day Program: 2012 was last of 10 for John Adair

On behalf of the John Adair Intermediate faculty, staff and students, we would like to thank all of the Veterans who have participated in our program over the last ten years. As the public knows, John Adair will no longer be in existence after this school year, so this was our last Veterans Day Program in this building. We would also like to thank Columbia Baptist Church Creative Ministry Team for bringing a wonderful message to our program each year. The program was a great success with over 35 Veterans in attendance.
