Great Ideas: Time for Downtown Skyway? Peter Cheng, the indefatigable visionary of Columbia business, foresees an opportunity for a Columbia first. With the coming sale of two historic buildings on the Square in Downtown Columbia, KY, his idea is that the new owner(s) of the Russell Building and the Jeffries Building might build a skyway across Jamestown Street to connect the upper floors of the two buildings. If that were done, perhaps the future bridge from Lindsey Wilson College to Downtown might have a landing which could connect for a gentle descent from Lindsey Hill to the Square, something like what Louisville, KY, has done for the Galt House, Kentucky Center for the Arts, and available parking. Paul Patton: Origins of Names of Christine Eunice and Ella Paul Patton writes: The information shared by Mrs. Jessie Gaskins about the naming of the Ella Post Office coincides with what I heard from my father, Rev. W. H. Patton who preached at the Purdy and New Hope churches for many years and was well versed in the history of this portion of Adair County. The story as I recall was that a certain gentleman had three daughters named Eunice, Christine and Ella and it was for them that these three communities and post offices were named. --Paul PattonComments re article 51559 Origins of Names of Christine Eunice and Ella 2012-04-28 04:14:00 | Comments | Printable version
