Ed, regarding the old Miller Hotel, I have a wardrobe that came from the Miller Hotel before it burned. It has an original bullet hole (which is still intact) in the door so I suppose someone was shot or shot at sometime. - Buddy Sewell

ST. CATHARINE, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College baseball team captured the program's first Mid-South Conference regular season title today, Saturday, April 14, 2012, with a sweep of host St. Catharine (KY) College at Edelen-Haydon Field.

With the 8-5 and 6-1 wins, the No. 13-ranked Blue Raiders completes the MSC regular season with a 17-4 conference record. Lindsey Wilson's .810 winning percentage cannot be surpassed with one conference weekend remaining in the regular season.

He was a Circuit Judge of the 29th Judicial Circuit of Kentucky (Adair and Casey Counties)

Judge James G. Weddle passed away on Wednesday April 11, 2012 at hisresidence in Liberty, KY.

Visitation will be from 2pm-5pmET/1pm-4pmCT, Sunday evening April 15, 2012at the Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 KY 49, Liberty, KY. Memorial services officiated by Reverend Jimmy Brown will begin at 2pmET/1pmCT, Monday afternoon, April 16, 2012 at the Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.

Rebecca Lynn (Beccy) Keith, Adair Co., KY (1977-2012)

She was a member of a large, respected South Adair County, KY, family. She leaves three children and was expecting her first grandchild, She was a member of the Tabor Community Church and a cosmetologist.

Rebecca Lynn "Beccy" Keith, 35, of Columbia, KY, died Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, KY.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 11amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Ralph Hadley officiating. Burial will be in Bardin Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:30pm, Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at the funeral home.

Fire Report: Control burn got out of Control

The Portland Old Skating Rink Fire

The Adair County Fire Dept responded at 4:20pmCT, Friday, April 14, 2012, to the Old Portland Skating Ring. The property owners were in the process of tearing down the building and a control burn got out of control due to high winds. The property was totally destroyed by fire. There were 16 firemen on the scene for around 1 hour. The property was owned by Garnett Baker. - Donald Hare

Loretta Shanklin, Adair County, KY (d, April 12, 2012)

She was a native of Adair County, KY, the daughter of the late Martin Sharp and the late Addie Bell Sharp. She was a member of a respected Adair County family. She had worked in Louisville, KY, for many years and was a member of the Eastern Star

Loretta Shanklin age 94 years of Louisville, Ky. formerly of Columbia, KY, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY.

A service celebrating Loretta Shanklin's life will be held 1pmET, graveside on Monday, April 16, 2012, at Louisville Memorial Gardens, 4400 Dixie Hwy. Visitation will be 10amET on Monday at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home until service time.

I just recently found out that cows don't like the wild mustard that looks like fleabane, so maybe they don't like fleabane either (with good reason). Look for cows standing around in fields of yellow flowers on Rt. 530--which means they're not eating the flowers. - Kathy Krug-

Fleabane may be more valuable than we thought

Would you pay money to buy this plant? My son in Salt Lake City bought a couple of these flower plants at a Home Depot last summer when he was landscaping his yard. Fleabane: Maury finds plant has a downside

Some places list them as herb, but she's concerned that plants are toxic to cattle and goats
