Double Cola: writer advocates bringing it back Thomas Johnson writes: Double Cola was a very good soda and was produced by Double Cola Bottling Company in Greensburg, KY, which also Bottled Ski. Double Cola was discontinued, unfortunately, when Double Cola bottling was sold to Coca Cola a few years ago. Coca Cola announced they already had a Cola, so no need to carry on with another great cola. The Old Building for Double Cola is still standing in Greensburg; it was behind the old Shell station which is now a Marathon if I recall correctly. I, along with many others, I am sure, would love to see Double Cola come back with the same great flavor it had. --Thomas JohnsonComments re article 51122 Double Colas Great in iced glass bottles at the Adair Co Fair 2012-04-07 12:48:24 | Comments | Printable version

Double Colas: Great in iced glass bottles at the Adair Co. Fair She wonders if Double Cola changed formulas, or if just age difference made her most recent purchase seem different from childhood memories of drinking Green County national beverage? By Von Pierce If my memory serves me correctly, I think Double Cola was made in Greensburg by the same people who make the wonderful drink called Ski. Oh, I remember it so well! At the County Fair when I was a child - and that was some years ago, when my parents had the concession stands at the old fairground, when all sodas came in glass bottles - they would get so cold in that big long tub of ice!Double Cola had a taste of its own, for sure. The last time I had a bottle was about 15 years ago. I got it a some little country store around Greensburg, near a little community called Summershade, but it sure didn't seem to taste like it did when I was a child! But they say that your taste buds change: Could be, then, that the Double Cola had changed - just my age had had changed! - Von Price Comments re article 51080. Can anyone tell Maury about Double Cola 2012-04-07 06:58:59 | Comments | Printable version
Kentucky Color - The Mightiest The amazing ant: strongest of all Earth's heavy lifters Click on headline for essay with photo(s) By Billy Joe Fudge, Retired State Forester Kentucky Division of Forestry I can only assume that most of us have a fairly firm grasp on the idea that there are literally thousands of species of creatures upon our Ol' Terra firma. Additionally I believe we recognize the one in the accompanying photo, the lowly ant, as being one of the very smallest. However what usually escapes our consciousness is the fact, according to most sources, that the ant is the strongest of all Earth's heavy lifters. It has been said that if an ant was big enough to drive a car and ran out of gas he could pick up the car and run 60 mph with it in his jaws to the gas station. -Billy Joe Fudge 2012-04-07 06:17:02 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Kentucky Color by Billy Joe Fudge
