Sportsmens Club is being constructed just north of the Burkesville Street and Veterans Memorial Bypass intersection across from Majestic Yachts. The public will notice a new rock road being built along the tree line toward the top of the hill. The new entrance will enter the Sportsmens Club with the club lake on the right of the road and the original club house on the left. The old entrance at the end of Lancaster St. will be discontinued as soon as the new entrance is completed which should be in the next week or 10 days. Lawrence P. Emberton, M.D., Edmonton, KY (1922-2012) Metcalfe County, KY has lost a giant of its history and South Central Kentucky a beloved family physician. Retiring in 2008, Dr. Emberton's 58 years of practice included the medical services of obstetrics, pediatrics, geriatrics, orthopedics, minor surgery, pathology and radiology to the citizens of Metcalfe Co. He also served on the Selective Service Board, as the chairman of the Metcalfe Co. Board of Health and member and chairman of the Edmonton City Council. He was a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir and quartet member of the Edmonton Baptist Church. In 2007 he received the Pride in the Profession Award from the American Medical Association, the honor bestowed in Washington DC. He had broad interests. He was also a business owner, farmer and public servant, L.P. lived a life of service and dedication to his family, his profession, his church and his community. He loved classical music, woodworking, studying theology, and collecting pearl handled whittler knives. Lawrence Pitcock Emberton, 89 died March 22, 2012. Al Sullivan loved a good time; lived life to the fullest By Angela Bault Milby I feel so Blessed to have had the honor to have known Al Sullivan as many of us have. I cleaned Al's house for several years and shared many laughs with him along with his family. I loved it when his sisters would come over and they would sing; Al had a blast singing with his sisters.
