News from the Adair County Sportsmens Club

A new entrance to the Adair Co. Sportsmens Club is being constructed just north of the Burkesville Street and Veterans Memorial Bypass intersection across from Majestic Yachts.

The public will notice a new rock road being built along the tree line toward the top of the hill. The new entrance will enter the Sportsmens Club with the club lake on the right of the road and the original club house on the left. The old entrance at the end of Lancaster St. will be discontinued as soon as the new entrance is completed which should be in the next week or 10 days.

The Board of Directors of the Sportsmans Club are hoping that the new entrance off of the bypass will encourage more people to enjoy the 4 shooting ranges, meeting house, walking paths, fishing lake and picnic areas. The Board also wants to remind everyone that it wants to continue to provide a safe, wholesome, family park like setting for its members to enjoy.

The Sportsmens Club works closely with the 4-H Shooting Sports, Boy Scouts and all Wildlife Conservation organizations. The Sportsmens Club is a NRA Affiliated club that has received national recognition from the NRA.

The Sportsmens Club is a 501C organization and any donations may be tax deductible. The Sportsmens Club will be organizing several fundraising activities in the future to pay for the improvements to the 30 acre site.

Please support the Sportsmens Club fund raising activities with your tax deductible contributions and with your memberships. You may contact any member or Board member for a tour of the facilities at any reasonable time.

Most shooting clubs of comparable size to the Adair Co Sportsmens Club, require an initiation fee of hundreds of dollars, sponsorship from a member in good standing and an annual fee of several hundred dollars.

Memberships to the Adair Co. Sportsmens Club are $50 per year per immediate family and may be purchased at Downey's Gun and Pawn and The Hardscratch General Store. Membership runs from January 1st until December 31st. Membership includes a key to the gate, a membership card for identification on club grounds, a schedule of events with contact information and the club rules.
