Maury Lewis: I am blessed

So many people here just want to help

By Maury E Lewis

I was in a small business today, representing the Garden Club, picking up things that Joe Hare said the people in Laurel County, KY needed and the people were so helpful with everything.

I want to say thanks to all who helped me and I know you will be blessed for your giving.

I also want to say thanks to the man who walked up to me and handed me a twenty dollar bill and told me it was for gas for my car.

He overheard me talking to the manager of the store about what I was doing and he wanted to put gas in my car, so I ask the Lord to bless him in his giving.

I am so glad I moved here from LA (lower Alabama).

I am truly learning how blessed I am. - Melewi

News from the Patriot Guard Riders

I just got off the phone with a Patriot Guard friend of mine in Laurel County, KY and our neighbors are in need of a few things. One of the things that they are desperate for are the wide leaf rakes that have the plastic teeth. He said they work better for cleaning up insulation. Also like all areas hit by the storms, they need plastic tubs with lids and bleach and rubber gloves. These item are scarce,up there, even if the people have the money to buy or a way to get to the store.

There is also a major cleanup effort being organized for tomorrow, early, at around 9pmET/8pmCT, Saturday, March 10, 2012. Volunteers can show up at any time during the day. Work will continue through 5pmET/4pmCT. Should anyone be intested in donating some time, they could go to the East Bernstadt Fire Department, East Bernstadt, KY, and they will help you find somewhere you are needed. The supplies can be taken to the church. (A spokesperson at the church said that prayers for the hard hit town are especially appreciated.) -Joe Hare

Didn't miss a Sunday at Knifley Christian Church in upbringing

Richard Hovious writes:
As for the old church (Knifley Christian Church), don't believe I mised a single Sunday School or "Meetin" there during my Upbringing in Knifley until I was drafted by the Navy (age 13) - You may remember from my bio, it was about 20 feet from the second window from the right that Sam Goode ran over me - both legs! - Even that has good memories. --Richard Hovious

Thank you from family of Buck Corbin

If you sent a card, a flower, brought food, came to visit or just remembered us in your prayers during the illness and death of our father Buck Corbin, we want to thank each and every one of you. Heaven has truly gained an angel. Our dad was a wonderful man and will be missed. We gain strength in your words and in the memories we have of dad. We will forever miss him and love him but we know he is truly free from all the pain. We especially want to thank the people at Campbellsville Retirement Home, Hospice, Brother David Coffey, Donnie Ford and David, Cathy and Blake Martin and Robert Harmon who are like family to us. We ask that you continue to remember us in your prayers as we go through the coming days ahead of us. God bless each and every one of you. - Steve, Rita, Allan, Amber and families - Rita Neat
