Tim Phipps thinks Larry Smith was in an entrance to Todd's Cave

Comments re photo 43890: Yes, it is famed spelunker Larry Smith But where is he?Tim Phipps writes:
I believe that this is Todd's Cave on Russell Creek (or rather a branch thereof). Yes, it was probably a little fool hardy, but I was also in there. --Tim Phipps
Thanks, Tim Phipps. Good guess. You do deserve a hearty handshake, if not a laurel. There may be some of the elements in your answer which are correct, but, his much is not: Wrong Cave name. Not over Russell Creek or a branch of Russell Creek, though Larry's Cave is over a stream. Also, his location, unlike Todd's Cave, is not in Adair County. For sure, foolhardy or not, you're braver than I am, to go below the surface of the ground. - EW

Steve Wheeler was serious and dedicated at work - but entertaining, too

Mikki Flowers writes:
I agree with Larry Smith. Steve Wheeler was a serious, dedicated dispatcher but he was so witty and a joy to be around. I worked with him at Post 15 for many years and he kept us entertained when we had slow times at post. He could sing and tell a joke! He was an impersonator and no one can forget how he impersonated Lieutenant Humkey. That was his best. We miss you, Steve. Thanks, Larry, for being his good friend. --Mikki Flowers

Commends Christian values at Campbellsville U, Lindsey Wilson

Applauds good news of 100 professions of faith at Jay Lowder rally

Richard Raines writes:
I'll agree with Sister Ann Goff (Letter) - this is good news. I think our Christian colleges have been doing a good job of educating our young people (look at the success LWC and CU students have at getting into graduate or professional programs plus the ratings that teachers from these programs get) but I think that winning students to Christ and strengthening Christian commitments needs to be a concern for these schools also! --Richard Raines

Feds want more broadband spectrum for 1st responders

CM Editorial Comment: The article below is verbatim from the White House. CM thinks they have it somewhat right, but are throwing too many sops to carriers. The answer on broadband width is for the Federal Communications Commission to keep the internet as free and open as possible, and to award spectrum to private businesses who can provide the lowest cost and best service, not who will pay the Feds the most for the spectrum, who will add costs and limitations onto user services to recoup their license costs.. This is free advice for Obama, who didn't take our sound advice that the most Green thing he could do would be to put a Truck Driver with a CDL in the Cabinet -ED WAGGENER

From the White House

Today, Vice President Biden met with first responders to thank them for their service and to discuss the new nationwide public safety broadband network included in the Payroll Tax Extension legislation. In addition, he announced the release of a new report from the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA), The Economic Benefits of New Spectrum for Wireless Broadband), describing the substantial economic value of aggressively pursuing President Obama's goal of nearly doubling the amount of spectrum available for wireless broadband over ten years and deploying a nationwide interoperable wireless network for public safety.
