Sad week in History: Sandidge home on KY 88 burned to ground

Sue Spanding writes:
It is a sad week in History that I tell you that the Sandidge home on KY 88 burned to the ground. They believe it is arson and they are investigating this theory. It was built for John Sandidge when he settled here from Virginia. It was later owned in the late 1800s by Dabney M. Sandidge. - Sue Spanding

Thanks to ACHS Golf Teams for exciting year!

' Congratulations to any student who gives his or her best to both academics and extra-curricular activities because the combination will serve them well.' -DOUG McCAMMISH

By Doug McCammish

Congratulations to the ACHS Golf Teams for an exciting year! I don't know anything about golf, but I enjoyed keeping up with those kids.

By the way, my understanding is that several of the golfers are great students as well. Congratulations to any student who gives his or her best to both academics and extra-curricular activities because the combination will serve them well.

Now that the golf teams are thinking about next year, I also want to thank Coach Burton and Coach Goodin again for not only doing a great job as coaches and motivators, but for a great job of keeping the fans informed.

- Doug McCammish

(Ad) 3 Family Yard Sale on Liberty Road, 1200 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY

Another ad with a name; a very special touch in the spirit of CM:

Joann Elder writes:
3 Family Yard Sale 7am-3pmCT, Saturday, October 8, 2011, at 1200 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Lots of items, brand name shoes and purses, clothing and housewares. - Joann Elder
A special thank you to Joann Elder. We like this style ad, very much in the Spirit of CM. There's something very friendly, very inviting, about a Yard Sale which includes the givers name(s). Not everyone thinks of that, and that's OK. That doesn't mean they are unfriendly, and anonymous advertisers may have very special, very valid reasons for not giving names, which we respect. But adding a name to a Yard Sale indicating the giver(s) of the sale is very, very, special. Names are so very, very important in ads, news stories, and photographs. Their power can't be overestimated. And, by the way, if a name is omitted inadvertently, either by the advertiser or by us, we'll be happy to update. Just use the Updates or Corrections button with the ad, and we can make the change in seconds after it's opened. -EW
