Willie Milton Janes, Adair Co., KY (1924-2011) He was a highly respected citizen of Adair County. He was a World War II hero, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He will be accorded full military honors by Columbia VFW Post 697. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a factory worker. Willie Milton Janes, 87, of Columbia, died Thursday, October 6, 2011, at the Veteran's Hospital in Louisville. He was born September 15, 1924 in Nell, Kentucky to the late Avery & Maggie Jessie Janes. Funeral services will be Sunday, October 9, 2011 at 2pmCT, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2418 Campbellsville Road, Columbia, KY, with Bro. William Davenport and Bro. Steve Pescosolido officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY with full Military Honors presented by VFW Post 6097. Visitation after 4pmCT, Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Trinity United Methodist Church and after 12 Noon Sunday at the church until time of the funeral. He died Thursday, October 6, 2011, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 87 years and 21 days. He was a factory worker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and VFW Post 6097, having served in the Army in World War II where he was awarded the Purple Heart.
