Robert Cummin remembers Connie Leonard moderated debate on WGRB

Robert Cummin writes:
In regard to Mark Hale's article about Cane Valley's WGRB TV-station, I remember going to that little facility in the early nineties to participate in a local news live TV studio debate production hosted by moderator and reporter Connie Leonard. That analog production was pretty primitive by today's digital standards, but hey it was all there was around here back then! I still occasionally see reporter Connie Leonard doing Louisville TV news . -ROBERT CUMMIN

Freckles is still for sale - as a pet

Donna Rieder writes:
Yes, Freckles is still for sale, for $75.00. For everyone's information: goats, like cattle, are sold by weight and current market value (CMV). Since Freckles PHOTO is being sold as a pet, I'm asking slightly less than CMV. He's a right friendly little fellow, and I can't stand the thought of him being turned into sausage! Interested folks can call me at 270-805-1527 --Donna Rieder

Former WGRB personality amazed at number of those who remember the station.
Comments re article 46827 Query Anyone know what happened to Peter Sinclair and Choice Cuts

As far as I know there are no records of WGRB as we locals remember it even still around.

I have a VHS tape stashed somewhere that has about 10 of my commercials that I produced on it.

I wish things had been different there.

Quickly noted: Important opening; 2 brief closings

Family First Medical Center will be open this morning at 8amCT, at 363 Office Park Drive, Columbia, KY. Providers include Dr. Beth Partin, ARNP; Julie Gaskins, ARNP, and Dr. Gary Partin, MD. CM will have a comprehensive story on it shortly.

And on the restaurant scene, two brief closings of major importance:
  1. Betty's OK Country Cooking, 2339 Campbellsville Road, Columbia, KY, is closed today, September 12, 2011 for major remodeling and will re-open Monday morning, September 19, 2011 at 5pmCT.
  2. McDonald's, 980 Jamestown ST, Columbia, KY is closed for a major remodelling. We'll post re-opening time when received. It's big news
Just a comment: The latter two announcements reminded me of how important particular retailers become to us. Remember when Houchens' store burned? It created some major disruptions for many families, just selecting an alternate supply. Fortunately, Betty's OKCC and McDonald's will only be closed briefly and will both be vastly improved when they reopen. -EW
(Ad): Stay INFORMED Today, on YOUR terms:
There will be more Important Announcements throughout the day. Give CM 10 minutes to Start Your Day. Check CM with 50-second scans throughout the day. You'll also find hours of easy reading, entertainment, and thought provoking issues to read tonight at at home, if you want to - but not, we hope, instead of participating at all the great Events taking place in South Central Kentucky.

Poetry by Robert Stone: Unsplintering, a sonnet for 9-11

Unsplintering
- a sonnet response to 9-11
A time before there always is, a time
whose worse or better is not known until
with sorrows down or pleasures up we climb
our chosen destinies to sure fulfill.

A time of now there fleeting is, a blink
whose false or true interpretations wait
with grim despair or patient hope the brink
of less or more to come dealt out by fate.

A time to come there ever is, a chance
whose dull or shining opportunity
with gripping fear or grasping hope will dance
alike with unashamed impunity.

May log-jammed eyes be cleared of wrong desire
to then unsplinter eyes dividing sky.

- Robert Stone, 11 September 2011
