The office has been aiding victims of the May 2, 2010, floods which devastated Adair County. The office opened on May 26, 2010.

The Columbia office was one of 13 regional DRCs set up around Kentucky. It is the first to close, though offices at Glasgow, Irvine, Greenup, and Elizabethtown will close after Saturday, June 19, 2010.

Betancourt said that during the past week, requests for aid had been reduced to a trickle. "I hope that's because everyone who needed help got it," she said.

The deadline for registering for disaster assistance and for applying for SBA disaster loans is July 12, 2010. Disaster survivors who have't registered for assistance or those with questions are encouraged to call 800-621-3362 or 800-426-7585 or go online to www.disasterassistance.gov. Kitten with a purple flea collar found at Draper Apts.

By Brittany Columbia

A kitten wandered into a Draper apartment this morning and is wearing a purple flea collar so we know she belongs to someone. If this is your kitten or you know who she belongs to, please let me know.

This kitten is a sweetheart and we want to make sure she gets back to her owner(s). She is a black and grey tabby.

If she is not claimed by this afternoon, I am planning to take her home for the weekend to try to keep her out of the animal shelter and hope that someone claims her over the weekend. My cell is (270) 634-1290.Brittany Columbia

Texas Montgomerys like travelogue facts with feelings

About: Reading Jackie Montgomery travelogue like being on the trip

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Each member of the El Paso Montgomery Clan is also in awe of Jackie's account of the trip. It is descriptive and emotional, reporting facts with feelings.

It is evident that she contributed her share of talent to our Grandchildren. We are grateful that Ryan and Rebecca are in a school district that encourages students "to reach for the Stars."

We salute all envolved. The recent successes are a credit to the administration, to the teachers, to the parents, and especially to the students themselves.
