"I don't care who you vote for - vote!" said Dr. Wendy Benningfield, associate professor of history at Campbellsville University, during the Kentucky Heartland Institute on Public Policy (KHIPP) sponsored forum at CU Thursday, Oct. 23.

"This is a historic election. An African-American is running for president, and for only the second time a female could be vice president," Benningfield said. "Vote for who will impact you."

Derek Cape, Brandon Wood, homecoming candidates at LWC

Derek Cape and Brandon Wood of Columbia, KY were named homecoming candidates at Lindsey Wilson College last week.

Cape is the son of Darrell and Lisa Cape and will be representing the freshman class. Cape is involved in several clubs and organizations at Lindsey including SAB (Student Activities Board), SGA (Student Government Association), student ambassadors and is a member of the Blue Raider baseball team.

Wood, a communications junior, is representing the Lindsey Wilson Singers. Wood is the son of Janice and Gary Conover as well as Ronnie and Regina Wood. Wood is also a member of SGA and FYE Peer Mentors.

The homecoming king and queen will be crowned on November 8th between Blue Raider basketball games in Biggers Sports Center at around 3:30 P.M. CT.

Child prodigy now grown but not well grown up comes to town. Resident older artist resents newcomer who has genius but not gentility. Things go from bad first impression to worse.

Peter Shaffer's Amadeus opened at Kentucky Repertory Theatre last Friday night. Shaffer has gathered up the gossip about Mozart's death and fashioned an account of his arrival at the royal court in Vienna through his death as told by Salieri, who dies proclaiming that he murdered Mozart.

Scores are posted for Warren East Regional Invitational

The scores are posted for last Saturday's Marching Band Regional competition. In 2008, the Adair County Marching Band swept all fields, outdoing even the great 2007 band, which won all categories except for a clean sweep of visual: Class AAA West Regional KMEA Marching Band Contest at Warren East High School, Bowling Green, KY.

The band will compete in the state semi-finals at Meade County High School, Brandenburg, KY. The lineup of performances have not yet been announced, but the competition starts at 10:00am Eastern Time.

The Adair County Hospital Board, governing body for Westlake Regional Hospital, Westlake Healthcare Team, meets each last Tuesday at 6:30pm in the board room of Westlake Regional Hospital, Westlake Drive, Columbia, KY. The board consists of Chairman Mitchell Harris, and members James Evans, Katie Campbell, John Noll, and Bradley Irvin. The meetings are open to the public.
