Duo Co., Bluegrass Cellular to break ground on new building Duo County Telecom and Bluegrass Cellular will be breaking ground for the construction of their new Customer Care Center. The ceremony will take place on Thursday, August 28, 2008, at 9:00amCT The new structure will be located in Holladay Place, in front of the new Super Wal-Mart off KY 61 South and the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Parkway in Columbia, KY. The new office will feature 5,350 square feet of floor space, as well as several new Customer Service Representative stations, allowing customers to be helped quickly and efficiently, a company spokesperson said. Dr. Kessler named to KY Heritage Land Conservation Fund Board Governor Steven W.Beshear has reappointed Dr. Richard K. Kessler of Campbellsville, KY as a member of the Kentucky Heritage Land Conservation Fund Board. Dr. Kessler is a professor at Campbellsville University. He represents the Kentucky Academy of Science. Kessler shall serve for a term expiring July 15, 2011. The photograph evokes for me an appreciation of my heritage. Members of my family attended the Clear Springs Methodist Church which was located on the Clear Springs Road, an honored landmark of the Clear Springs community. The funeral of my great-grandmother, Mary Margaret Bryant Grider (1846-1936), was in this church. Her grave is in the Bryant Cemetery located in Clear Springs. World Premier of expanded "Words of Lincoln" in Columbia, KY Dr. Gerald Chaffin of Lindsey Wilson College, has announced the world premier of an expanded version of Earlene Rentz' "Words of Lincoln," which will be performed at the Columbia Baptist Church by the combined Lindsey Wilson combined ensembles, which includes both the LWC Singers and the LWC Choir, on November 3, 2008, at 7:00pmCT. Included in the texts are excerpts from Lincoln's speech at the Springfield Train Station when he was leaving Illinois for Washington, DC, his Second Inaugural Address, the Gettysburg Address, and the Emancipation Proclamation. The new version being performed at the Columbia Baptist Church will It will be performed for international audiences on Lincoln's Birthday at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, Dr. Chaffin said. The November 3, 2008 concert at Columbia Baptist continues a tradition of the Lindsey Wilson College Department of Music. "Every presidential election year we hold a patriotic choral event on the eve of the election," he said. ACHS Football corn toss tournament is August 22, 2008 The ACHS football team will be holding its 2nd annual corn toss tournament Friday August 22, 2008 at the ACHS football field. Registration will begin at 6:00pmCT, tournament will begin at approximately 7:30pmCT. There will be concessions, an opportunity to meet the 2008 ACHS players and staff and several other activities. The tournament will be played on the field. Entry fee will be $20 per peson or $30 for a two person team. We ask that you bring boards and bags as well. Adair County Fiscal Court is a finalist for PRIDE award Besides Adair Fiscal Court, other nominees for the prestigious Rogers-Bickford Award are Jean Clement, a teacher at Russell County Middle School, and Pulaski County Solid Waste Coordinator Gerald Hines The Adair County Fiscal Court is a finalist in the annual PRIDE Envi Awards program, which recognizes outstanding environmental education and cleanup efforts in southern and eastern Kentucky.
