Remembering Janice Corbin

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 4, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home for Janice Delaine Patton Corbin who passed away early this morning. Complete obituary follows these memories by her friend and employer.

By Dr. Phil Aaron

Janice Corbin touched many lives in her nursing career: first as she worked for 16 years with Dr. Oris Aaron and Carolyn Jones and many others at the old Adair Memorial Hospital, then working almost 30 years in my office.

She was so proud of herself as she was a breast cancer survivor (surgery, radiation and chemotherapy) only to find out about a week after this treatment was over that the cancer had spread to her brain.

Services will be Friday, July 4, for Jan Corbin

2008-07-02 - Photo from work.
JAN CORBIN passed away today after a lifetime of caring for others. She will be greatly missed in the medical community where she worked as a registered nurse and was known for her gentle care. Jan was once heard to instruct a new staffer, frustrated at balancing an impatient-patient with paperwork and administrative detail, "Patients don't have to be nice, they are sick," Jan said, "We are the ones who are to be nice." That was her philosophy of care giving. While the photo available isn't as good quality as we'd like, it still shows her bright, expressive countenence, one so many will miss so much.

CM Freecycling ad response is overwhelming

Wanted: Freecycle ads. They're free
ColumbiaMagazine.com classified ads are working too well. The turnover is fierce. Things sell. Things get given away. Pets get found. Pets get adopted. Money is raised. Cash goes into pockets. (Kinda nice at back to school time) People go to events and church meetings through a worldwide common meeting place for this area: the ColumbiaMagazine.com Classifieds, which are free, mostly.

The hardest category for us to keep filled is Freecycling ads, where the environment is helped by finding a new home for a perfectly usuable item no longer needed, but which might be of benefit to a neighbor.

This morning, this letter was received re: Freecyle Couch and Chair, "I've had an overwhelming response to the free couch and chair I advertised on your site. They have been given away so you can take the ad off the site. Thanks!"

The contact information has been deleted, and the ad itself is being deleted at midnight, Wednesday, July 2, 2008.

Click Here to see the outline of the ad which worked so well, then write your own. You'll help someone else, clear up some room, and you ought to be able to congratulate yourself! (Scroll up for all the great CM Classified opportunities). To post your Freecycling or other money producing advertisement, use any Contact/Submit button.
