137 incoming CU students take part in first LINC session

Orientation at CU: LINC=Learn in a New Environment, Invest in Your Future, Navigate Life Change and Connect to CU

Campbellsville University was a little more like home to 137 students who attended CU's first LINC session June 5-6, 2008, with 150 additional new students coming to LINC June 27-28, 2008.

It's all about information, fellowship, friendliness and personalization as students come to CU during these special two days for orientation when they experience what college life will be like in August.

Cocker Spaniel wants owner to claim it

A beautiful cocker spaniel at the Green River Animal Shelter is lost from his home. He was camped at the neighbor's house and wouldn't leave. He was brought in on Thursday, June 19th, and we hope the owner will claim him. Thank you, Heather. The funeral service will be Saturday, June 21, 2008, at 11:00am, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Ronnie Janes the officiating clergy.

Travel advisory: part of southbound I-65 shut down tonight

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will have traffic pushed down to one lane on southbound I-65 tonight from 9:00pm until 7:00amCT.

Crews will be resurfacing in the southbound lanes from mile marker 51 (south of Cave City) to mile marker 58 (Horse Cave).

Motorists can expect delays and should seek alternate routes if possible.

Adair County Water District plans more lines

List of new roads to be served below. Water line from Green River Lake Plant to Shepherd now complete. "Never had a project go so smooth," Manager tells Board of Stotts Construction Company work. Financing work on huge $4.5 million Phase 9 Columbia Western Bypass Line is coming along well, General Manager says.

The Adair County Water District will be adding several new lines in Phase 8 B, using money left over from the Phase 8 Shepherd School Water Tower project, which is now virtually complete.

As well, ACWD General Manager Lenny Stone told the water board at it's regular meeting Thursday, June 12, 2008, the 12" line from the new Adair County Water Treatment plant is is complete.

"We never had a project go so smoothly," Mr. Stone said. "There were no complaints whatsoever."

Breeding Area VFD now collecting 2008-2009 membership dues

PUBLIC NOTICES

The Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department is now collecting membership dues for 2008-2009 year, July 1, 2008 and goes to June 30, 2009.

Letters notifying property owners about fire dues will be mailed out next week.

Membership dues can be mailed to the Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department at Post Office Box 5, Breeding, KY 42715.

Membership dues can also be paid to any BAVFD firefighter. Dues are $25.00 for first deed and $15.00 per additional deed.

Non- Membership runs are $500.00. The Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department provides fire suppression to the South-Western part of Adair County.
